Hospice Volunteers

of Somerset County, Inc.

Hospice adds life to days at a time when

days can no longer be added to life.

Hospice treats the person, not the disease.

It also focuses on family and friends,

not just the individual.

Hospice emphasizes the quality of life,

not the duration.

Our Volunteers, often called “the Heart of Hospice,” are a very caring, concerned and sympathetic group of people who want to help others who are going through a difficult time.

All volunteers have been thoroughly screened and have

received training in the Hospice philosophy of caring

for the terminally ill and issues resulting from loss.

Hospice Volunteers are good listeners and very supportive individuals who donate their time, skills and compassion to provide free non-medical services to families.

Our Volunteers bring a wide variety of skills and talents to families. Their support might be running errands,

preparing lights meals, providing respite to give family

members a break, lending emotional support and

companionship, and/or helping out with light housekeeping.

Our Involvement Continues …

Bereavement support is provided to families served by our program and to the community. One-on-one visits, support groups, and bereavement mailings are available to

anyone dealing with loss.
