Déjàvu Fashion Blog –Diary of a Designer
May 3rd, 2008 - Another day at 309 East 9th….

Well my friends here is the fashion trend and forecast of the day. Shorter dresses with sculptural elements are still selling like crazy. Red, yellow, black and white selling through like there is no tomorrow. Of course, it’s graduation and prom season so formal and fun dresses are a big hit. Casual bottoms and pencil skirts are also big for May. Flowing colorful tops, and prints are still going strong, Nicole Miller eat your heart out…. The boutique has done 3x times the expected sell through for the month, and we even had to bring in more labels from Italy to keep up with the demand. We now have an exclusive area wide deal with Rinascimento, a famous Italian brand. In Europe, they are “the” trend setters and with our relationship we can bring over 10 new styles a week into the boutique. With the showroom here we can also get pieces overnight. So no more long waits from Europe and no color/size problems
We had a slamming grand opening last Weds. night. Unfortunately, I was in San Francisco, and couldn’t be here. Yesterday the mirrored ceiling was installed, and the Venetian mirrors and chandeliers we ordered should arrive soon. I’m also looking for that perfect French chez lounge for the waiting area. We have also already begun planning our next evening gala event. We plan to do an exclusive VIP NYC store show, and private party. We expect our celeb clients to attend, and we also can’t wait to pop the cork on another few hundred bottles of Champaign. So bring your fabulous wares, your hats, jewels of finest flare, and bring on the fabulousness this August.
Our windows will be decorated for the summer soon, and we can’t wait to see what our fabulous window display designers come up with….just wait and see
Abiento!~

May 4th, 2008-
It’s a bright sunshiny day here at 309, and the color of the day is red. We seem to be selling short volumized pieces the best and time slips away as the clients engross themselves in wine and high fashion on our plasma flat screen. It’s time to discuss window displays, new assistants, and time to finish the design process for the new store next door. A “Moulin Rouge” feel, with color and spiritual touches of timeless beauty. Nothing too apropos, of course, as we want a feeling of serenity and glamour in the store. We expect the design will incorporate our new design studio, and couture line into the space with Juki machines, and oak-tag galore. All this will be accompanied by fun apparel, accessories, and custom creations in the window. So bring on the custom couture needs, and we’ll bring out our gingers

As another day comes to a close here at 309 we find our surroundings just as we found them, content and happy with the flow of fashionistas, families, and friends.

Au revoir’

May 5th, 2008-
Back to the grind. I had meetings with some major dept stores this morning to wrap up some old design lines for Fall 08. Quite the meeting, and now back at 309. Beautiful day here at Dejavu and the new store smell is finally beginning to fain a little. I’m about to enjoy an ice coffee, and take in the day as I continue to plan our store advancement, aesthetic, and finish up furniture orders.
