Dear Governor Corzine:

When Amicus Therapeutics was formed back in 2002, we had a valuable concept and a sound business plan. However, as a startup biopharmaceutical firm developing treatments for rare genetic disorders, we also knew we’d need to seize every opportunity for the best chance to thrive. In that light, we decided to take advantage of office and laboratory space in the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Commercialization Center for Innovative Technologies.

We believed firmly in our company’s potential, but did not anticipate that a partnership with a state authority would be so fundamental to our early success, and to the speed with which we achieved it. Now, Amicus Therapeutics is about to mark the milestone of hiring our 100^th employee, and we’re taking the opportunity to thank those who’ve helped us get this far.

On behalf of all the employees of Amicus, it is my distinct pleasure to formally invite you to an event to celebrate the hiring of our 100^th employee and to express our gratitude for the essential contribution to our success by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.

We believe the EDA’s mission represents the highest ideals of business and government cooperation for the greater good, and that our joint endeavor has produced benefits for us, for the workers and taxpayers of New Jersey, and especially for the patients we work to treat.

As New Jersey’s “first citizen” and chief executive of our state government, the honor of your presence will help shine a spotlight on this example of what can go right when dedicated people of good will from both the public and private sectors work together for progress, prosperity and humanity. On Wednesday, August 13, at our Cranbury headquarters, we look forward to expressing our thanks in person, and to enjoying the luncheon celebration with you, representatives from the EDA, local government officials and members of the press.
