The lights you mention are located inside the instrument cluster. You must take apart the dash to get to it; the whole instrument cluster (tach, gagues, speedo) comes out. It is covered by a foil piece with printed circuits, so be careful not to damage the circuits. There are three such lights, and replace them all at once, so you don't have to spend two hours taking apart the dash next time to replace the others. There is one for the speedo, another for the tach, and one for the clock/multi-fuynction indicator. The books say you have to take off the steering wheel to do this, but I did not. Take out the radio, the switches for the lights, fog lights, defogger, flashers, etc. Take out the dummies too. There are screws in the dash, above the instrument cluster, and behind one of the dummies. Take them out. Also take off the half-panel under the steering wheel. Once you have everything off, and the screws off the iunstrument cluster, reach up from below and toggle the instrument cluster so you can reach the speedo cable. It comes out with some force, but beware of skinning your knuckles. The cluster then twists right out. Take the cluster inside to work on a table. There are screws (brass colored) which hold on the foil piece. There is also a bracket of some sort, and a vacuum thing you have to remove. The lights have black plastic backings, the sides have metal, where they contact the foil piece. Be sure to test the new bulbs to be sure they conduct electricity (two of four I bought at the dealer were bad). Gently turn them half turn with pliers and pull out. Installation of the new ones is the opposite. Make sure the conductors are lined up with the foil piece. Reattach the foil piece nd put together the dash board. Oh, I should have mentioned, disconnect the battery before doing this. I got a shock I won't soon forget. You were absolutely right on all counts. There is a "grain of wheat bulb" in the fog light switch (and all the other switches on the C with a illuminating ring of either yellow or green hue) It was a bit tricky getting the switch open to expose the bulb... Once inside I simply resoldered a new bulb in (purchased at Norvacs per your suggestion (where are you located BTW)). Again, per your suggestion I went with the 12 - 16 volt bulb...Thanks. Happy Holidays. Bottomline: A new switch was $80. A new grain of wheat bulb was $1.10! A savings of $78.90!
