Irons in the fire I just uploaded the graphite study for America Runs On Dumpin, it's a play on the Dunkin Donuts slogan, I've included cups from Starbucks, Au Bon Pain, and Pete's Coffee - it's all trash after all. I've added some futher elements for the painting and will upload that as soon as I complete it. I've also uploaded a painting I did as a wedding present for friends of ours where I arranged the favors into a simple composition and did a study in oil. Over the past year, and more recently as we prepared to move out of our apartment (and as my fortieth birthday fast approaches) I have been exploring the ideas of legacy. It started when I worked on my boots painting and tied the idea of my possessions to my sons inheritance. Working with this idea I have started defining "my" possessions with looser criteria and looked at the amount of stuff that passes through my life, what I hold and what I throw away. So for a few weeks I stopped throwing my coffee cups away and filled two paper carrier bags at my studio with them. These are the subject of my current work, I started with a pencil drawing that is inordinately complex and am following it with a painting, the working title for now is "America runs on Dumpin". I highly recommend the book Garbage Land by Elizabeth Royte for the lowdown on some of the environmental costs of living the life we do.

Statement In my art I explore themes of family and contemporary life. I am engaged by the technical and expressive, analytical and emotional elements of the artist’s practice. Through my work I find order, truth, and meaning.
