12/07/08 - All three kittens are now reserved. The babies are growing quickly. Cindy Pitts came up and did her usual great job so these will be the last photos posted.
All of our kittens are sold with a valid health certificate, and, at a minimum their first vaccinations. Our kittens are sold as altered pets only, and we do not ship our kittens. Our kittens must be indoor cats, and they must not be declawed or devocalized.
The HCM gene mutation test is negative for Aeron, Fiona, and Niall. This means that no Kerrycoons kitten can inherit the currently identified gene for HCM disease. As the cats get older we also get the HCM ultrasound screening on our breeding cats. Aeron and Niall both passed with flying colors. We will test Fiona next year when she gets a little older.
Our kittens are raised in our dining room, which is separated from the rest of the house by a sliding door with glass panes. This means the rest of the household (cats that is) get to view the progress of the kittens while being safely separated from them. By the time the kittens start moving around, it's like a reality TV program for the older cats. You will usually find one or more of them sitting at the door watching the antics of the new babies.
When the babies become aware of their audience, then the fun really begins. The little ones have no fear of the adults, and they start trying to play with them through the door. It is a lot of fun to watch, and has the added benefit of socializing the babies to the adults. When they get their first shots and leave the dining room to join the rest of the household at eight weeks, the adjustment period is long over and everyone plays nicely. The adults regress to kittenhood and are wonderful with the babies.
