BIO

I grew up in Michigan and started playing horn at age 11. I graduated from high school at Interlochen Arts Academy. After studying at University of Wisconsin, I attended L'Iinstitut de Hautes Etudes Musicales in Montreux, Switzerland, where I received the Certificat d'Etudes. I then returned to the USA to Boston University and earned my Bachelors degree in Music. Shortly afterwards, I was recruited to play horn in the Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado de Sao Paulo, Brazil and I spent two very fun years performing there. A German guest conductor in Brazil invited me to perform at the AIMS festival in Graz, Austria, which I attended for two summers. I spent the year between summers in Germany, subbing with several German orchestras and busking in various European capitals.

Back in the states once more, I earned my Masters degree from the Yale School of Music. After six years away, I returned to Boston to pursue my Doctorate in music from Boston University and began my free-lancing and teaching career. In the 20 years since, I have performed with just about all of the major “Classical” music ensembles in New England. For seven seasons I was principal horn in the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, playing over 250 performances.

Besides playing "Classical", Contemporary, Pops and session gigs on horn. I have played in many other genres, including Country, Jazz, New Age, Pop, R&B, Rock and Samba.

I also love playing all the various natural horns, starting with the Swiss Alp Horn. I own instruments from Baroque, Classical, Early Romantic and Early 20th Century, as well as hunting and shepherd horns.

My other passion is skiing, downhill and cross country. I love the experience of combining speed and silence while outside. It is a time when the world whizzes by serenely and silently, like looking out a bullet train window.
