Into the home stretch today and I must say it is good to be someplace where the default color of the landscape is GREEN and you are not constantly being reminded to "carry water with you at all times" or being asked to conserve water. Indiana and Illinois seem ridiculously small to cross after the western states but it helps to make the time pass quickly on this longest travel day. The only city of any size I have to cross in Indiana is Indianapolis and their ring road keeps you fairly far from town. I think this is the only state where I have not had to negotiate my way around or through an urban area. Even in the panhandle of West Virginia I have to go through Wheeling. I hit the early evening rush hour traffic around Columbus, but did not loose much time. At his point I didn't even need the maps any more but could navigate from memory. Pulled into the garage at 7:20 PM EDT and actually unloaded the car before calling it a day and a vacation.
