This is the story of the beginning and end of a mighty harbor defense fortification. It is in addition about the Cape Henlopen area where the fort was built, about the people living there before the white man landed at this beautiful place, about the men who found it and settled there and the struggles and hardships they encountered. It is the story of the part the cape played in every war since theRevolutionary War and some of the vessels that plied in and around the waters of Delaware Bay. It is also the brief account of the man for whom Fort Miles was named.
