"The Problem of 'Rabid Tigers': Why Did Saddam Hussein Invade and Occupy Kuwait?". PhD dissertation, defended August 21, 1998. Application of Industrial Organization and Public Choice theory to political networks. Analysis of domestic economic and political changes to explain unexpectedly aggressive foreign policies, such as Hussein's refusal to withdraw from Kuwait despite the odds.

"The Israeli Defense Force: An Exemplar of the Exploitation of Local and Tacit Knowledge". A talk and presentation paper delivered before the Center for the Study of Market Processes, George Mason University , April 18, 1995. Discussion of Israeli military organization and operations, with applications to other militaries, from an economic standpoint.

"The Unplanned Planned Economy," Cornell Political Forum , Fall 1989. Examination of how Nazi central economic planning led Germany to political strife, dissension and great inefficiency.

"The Legacy of Joseph Stalin," Cornell Political Forum , Spring 1989. Analysis of how Stalin, through totalitarian terror, created a truly chaotic society in the Soviet Union.
