I installed a Hoppy Trailer Harness to go with my bumper mounted trailer ball (2").  The harness cost approximately $30 at my local auto parts store and the installation was incredibly simple (it took about 15 minutes).

First, I crawled under the rear of the truck and found the connector where the main harness attaches to the rear harness (tail lights, license plate light, etc.).  I separated the connector ends and connected the Hoppy harness ends to the appropriate male and female connector end.  That's basically it.  After that I Zip-Tie'd the harness in place and I was done.  I tested the harness plug for parking, turn signal, and brake light operation with the truck lights Off, set to Parking, and set to Headlight.  It worked flawlessly.

I know they sell a $200+ dollar trailer harness for this truck that has some kind of relay bypass harness that attaches behind the passenger kick panel.  Maybe I'm very lucky or maybe I'm in for some kind of problem down the road, but for now, I'm very pleased with the cost, ease of installation, and functionality of my Hoppy harness.
