Home2004 Nissan Frontier

[Update] Well, I had to have my cruise removed (Aug 17, 2006) because it just kept failing.  It worked great for the first two or three months.  Then it started having problems engaging and holding a steady speed.  The shop checked it out several times and changed some parts out along the way.  Finally, they installed a new system and couldn't get that one to work at all.  They finally gave up; or maybe they just got tired of me.  At any rate, looks like I'll be installing a system on my own some day.  BTW, I'm not very confident that the shop was too competent; they used the brake booster vacuum as a vacuum source.  Guess I have to replace that someday.

I paid a local Audio / Electronics store to install an aftermarket cruise control kit in my Frontier so I can't provide much information on the details (like how much of a pain the clutch switch or the VSS wiring might be to do), but I thought I'd provide a few pictures to show how the final product looks.

I decided to add cruise mostly for the MPG factor.  I do about two thirds of my 30 mile round trip for work on the highway and I thought that cruise might help mileage a bit.  I've made other modifications, but I've convinced myself that cruise has contributed to additional miles per gallon.

Anyway, here are the pics...
