RULES OF INTERACTION
Basic Tenet
Quellar Mithkaldaka members always seek each other out. This is encouraged and expected. We take care of our own, it is our highest priority.
Colnbluthen (Non-Frostalfar)
Non-QMers are viewed in different ways. In general Colnbluthen including Overside Kobolds and Dwarves are viewed as unenlightened, impatient, violent and destructive. Our alliance with the Colnbluthen of Midgard is seen as a compromise made in the best interest of Niflheim. Grouping with them is seen as a necessary evil and our interaction with them is exemplary of honour, charity and benevolence in the hopes of teaching by example. The Colnbluthen are somewhat barbaric and a true deep friendship with them is not very likely.
Drizlah Tonan (Tall Dirts) was a name first given to the Underside Kobolds and Dwarves when they were first encountered. They were not very welcoming as most Colnbluthen are. But as we spent time in the Underside and learned their ways and customs they came to regard our House and Niflheim Frostalfar more favourably. Now the Shadowklan Kobolds and Dvergar are allies of QM. Grouping and cooperating with them is encouraged as they are less polluted by the ways of the Oversiders. We try not to refer to them anymore as Drizlah Tonan, but they continue to be short.
ROI Scenarios
The ROI (rules of interaction) are intended for encounters with non-QMers. These encounters are expected to be limited or unplanned.
The 3 grouping scenarios:
Encouraged grouping: Other QM members, Shadowklan Kobos, and Dvergars.
Acceptable grouping: Members of Barons of Brutality. The Barons are a friendly group to the House.
Tolerated Grouping: PUG (pick up group) or special raid with Colnbluthen .
Tolerated Grouping explained
Seek out our brothers and sisters first. If not, you may group with other Midgarders, but are to remain in character at all times and to try to keep interaction at a minimum. Just because QM permits grouping with Outsiders does not mean that QMers (the players) should create non House characters that will interact with the House on a regular basis. Even if you have alts in Barons of Brutality, leave them for Colnbluth grouping. Remember each character has a separate identity. It is not in the nature of a Child of Hauk to seek out the company of Colnbluthen over his/her own kind. This is your game, you're welcome to create as many alts as you have slots. However, it's important to understand that your QM Frosties are unique and have special guidelines that you will help define along with the House at large. When you roll a QM Frosty it's like rolling a specific player class. There are things you should and should not do. Keeping your non-QM alts separate from your Frosty cannot be encouraged enough. But remember above all else, that whether you are among your own or grouped with the Colnbluthen, remain in character.
The House and your duty to the Emperor come first.
The House may develop ties in the future with other guilds but regular grouping with these guilds must be sanctioned by the Baal'teb. Similarly a member of the House or the House entirely may develop good relationships with individuals who are not in any way affiliated with Quellar Mithkaldaka. In this case, the Baal'teb would fashion special ROIs to facilitate this.
Guidelines for Participation in House Excursions
There is no force in the universe both above and below like a band of Frostalfar committed to a singular end. It can be both impressing and great fun. But it is a tremendous challenge for even the most seasoned and knowledgeable field commander. So pity the leader and adhere to some basic principles of successful grouping.
When falling in and assuming formation:
* Make sure to be on time. Late arrivals create delay for everyone. If you have a distance to travel to the meeting place, make sure to allow extra time in case you get killed on the way.
* Form groups according to the leader's orders. Each leader has his own way of organizing groups, so listen carefully and follow orders. When group formation proceeds in an orderly manner, the trip can start much more quickly.
When the company is in motion:
* Pay attention to everything said by the trip leader and immediately follow his commands. Keep an eye on him at all times and make sure you see where he's going every time he moves.
* Don't attack without orders. Allow the trip leader to coordinate the group's attacks.
* Use communication channels wisely. Use the chat group for the trip, not guild chat. Don't clutter up the chat group. Don't use all-caps, it distracts people from hearing the raid leader. Use /say or /yell for singing, cheering, otherwise making merry, or threatening colnbluthen.
* If you die, /send the trip leader. Don't pester him. Send him a quick "U tlun elgus a ...some place" or "Mih flat at someplace". Make sure you include where you died. This is the best way to make sure the trip leader knows somebody died.
* Be patient and understanding if you died and are waiting to be resurrected, or you are separated from the group and waiting for them to come get you.
* Finally, let the designated leader lead the trip, even if the leader is not high rank, or you don't like the way he is leading. It's better to follow a so-so leader than to confuse everybody with who to listen to. Don't start second guessing the leader and saying that he's wrong, and don't try to co-lead unless the leader asks you specifically to do so. If the leader is doing something very wrong, /send him a message to let him know.
Level and experience are not required to lead an excursion, the House encourages initiative. If you want to give feedback about how a House Excursion was organized and led, feel free to send a Rah a private message after the trip. Avoid posting negative, unconstructive comments on the boards.
Restrictive Xonathullen/Klomps
Generally we try to keep xonathullen as open as possible to all members. However on occasion, there will be xonathulls that will have certain criteria. These may be level based such as a capped level or a minimum level to join. They also may involve having a particular expansion enabled or other requirements. If you are unable to meet one of these requirements please take a moment to understand why and remain calm. There are always a variety of excursions taking place within the House, if you are unable to make one, you most likely will be able to make the next one!
