What's my line?

For the past five years, I have been melding two aspects of my life that I enjoy, web development and education. As a web developer, I have developed and maintained web sites for small to mid-sized companies. I am very comfortable with front-end develoopment using HTML and CSS and have some experience writing in Javascript. I have developed scripts and maintained web sites using PHP and ASP. I am proficient in SQL. As an educator, I have taught PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I have also begun to explore newer Web 2.0 technologies like AJAX and Ruby.

We must become life-long learners.
Today, roughly 73% of American adults use the Internet and worldwide, internet usage is approximately 21.9% or 1,463,632,361 people (Internet World Stats Usage and Population Statistics, 2008). How amazing for technologies that did not exist twenty years ago.

The way in which business is completed and the way individual's live their lives is changing. Thus, it is important that we all become life-long learners. As Seymour Papert (AI pioneer and LOGO programming language creator) once said, "It is no longer possible to have a concept of learning that claims that people will learn in their youth all the skills that they will apply through their lives. Learning is a continuous process" (Papert, 1990). We must embrace change and keep our lives and skills current.
