History Of

"The Magic Music Machine"

Hi! Thought I would give you a little history of our show " The Magic Music Machine" in Pittsburgh, Pa. on WYEP radio from 1974 to 1985.

Youngblood and Mac

Youngblood and Mac

Mac and I collected records from the 50's and made tapes for each other. We never thought that we could get so lucky to get a radio air shift  on the radio but a new public radio station came to town "WYEP".

Our friend "Jukebox Ron" had an air shift and asked us to fill in for him back in 1974. From there Mac and I talked our way in to having our own air shift.

All was new to us and came up with a show called "Sound Spectrum". The show aired on Saturday morning 6:00 am - 9:00 am.

We came up with a lot of ideas like "Collectors Corner" where the listener came down and spun there records for a half hour.

"Group Day" where we got some oldies groups back together. Invited local Disk Jockeys to do our show and many did.

WYEP changed Program Directors and thought we were out of an air shift. We said we would take any junk time they had.

They gave us Saturday 6:00 pm - 9:00pm. Man, talk about luck.

Met so many GREAT! artist and people I wouldn't   know where to begin. Please bookmark my web page for updates and graphics I'll share with you.

Yours in sound Youngblood (Jim Hurray)
