The scenic drive from Anchorage to Homer, along the Seward and Sterling Highways, runs around Turnagin Arm, past Portage Glacier turnoff, along the Kenai River, and then south along Katchemak Bay

Mt. Iliamna, Mt. Redoubt, Mt. Augustine and Mt. Spurr are four volcanoes strung out along the western side of Katchemak Bay and can be seen from the eastern side of the bay. As shown, Redoubt has erupted twice since 1966
