Organized in       1859(Danville Past&Present 1881) or 1863?. predominetly Irish and was
responsible for the all of the North ward east of Pine st and catawissa railroad.
The original firehouse was located on North Mill St., unfortunately this building burned down
in 1963 on the eve of our 100th year anniv. the truck had to be pushed out of the firehouse and
never pumped a drop of water on the fire. the company was moved to the old beer
distributer on center st. and remained there for several years. for a brief time we had no building
and the truck was housed at the danville water works while a new building was built on
continental ave, were we remain today.

an old story states that a individual was looking for the Geisinger hospital and pulled
up to the intersection of mill and bloom sts, asked some fellas standing there.
What is the quickest way to get too the Geisinger hospital, the reply was
Just pull up in front of the Continental Fire Co and yell out
THE HELL WITH THE IRISH, you'll get to the hospital very quickly.
