Hey there! I'm John! Thanks for checking this page out!

These days I'm employed as an Engineering Program Manager in Motorola's Wireline Networks division.

For kicks, I like hiking and backpacking in the summer, downhill skiing in the winter, working with the Cub Scouts, and distance running with the Merrimack Valley Striders. I'm active in Union Congregational Church in North Reading. I spend much of my free time with my kids and we do a fair bit of outdoor stuff together. Check out our "Peak Bagging Log"! I also like spending time researching my family's genealogy.

If you really care... I grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts and after getting my diploma from the Williston Northampton School, I went on to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After I drank a lot of beer and got a BS there, I went to work for Syska & Hennessy for almost five years as an HVAC engineer. The projects I worked on included the Westin Copley Hotel and the World Trade Center - both in Boston. In 1986 I went back to UMASS as a graduate student and worked in the Energy Analysis and Diagnostic Center. We provided energy audits for small industrial plants. Starting in January of 1988, I worked over 6 years for Xenergy in Burlington, Ma. I was one of the principal authors of RECAP, Xenergy's residential energy analysis software. In April of 1994, I began several years as an engineering manager at PictureTel in Andover. I was the Software Manager for the first two releases of the Venue 2000 videoconferencing system and the engineering Program Manager for tactical releases in the Client Engineering Group including the Venue 2000 and the world's first compact videoconferencing system, SwiftSite. In November of 1998, I went to work for MicroTouch in Methuen as the Director of Custom Product Engineering. From there, in May 2000, it was off to Nortel Networks in Billerica, MA, where I did almost three years as a Program Manager working as part of Nortel's Intelligent Internet Group. Then, in February 2003, it was on to Mercury Computer where I spent 3-1/2 years as a Core Team Leader/Project Manager working on multicomputers. In November of 2006, I moved to Motorola.
