The calabash and its contents, which are prepared by the groom and his family, consist of: a mat, which is used by the bride to sit on at the wedding ceremony; the calabash itself, which is wrapped in a white cloth--the cloth is used by the bride to cover her head during the ceremony. Inside the calabash are gifts consisting of: 100 cola nuts; money; 6 needles, which the bride is suppose to use for the upkeep of her husband's clothes.
When the father of the bride accepts the calabash, the mat is removed from the calabash and spread out on the floor for the bride to sit on. The calabash is then placed on it to wait for the bride's arrival.
The arrival of the bride, accompanied by her relatives.
In bride accepts the calabash and its contents, and agrees to be the wife of the groom.
