AMERICAN LEAGUE

 

 

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

 

Allie Reynolds (New York Yankees) – Reynolds was without question the most valuable player in this entire replay.  Reynolds led the AL in wins with a 7-1 record, and his 1.71 ERA also led the league.  He also finished fourth in strikeouts with 44, and sixth in WHIP (1.32).  His presence seemed to bolster the Yankees, and helped to lead them to the World Series victory.

CY YOUNG

 

Allie Reynolds (New York Yankees) – For all of the reasons he won the MVP.

SILVER SLUGGER (Best Hitter)

 

Joe DiMaggio (New York Yankees) – the Yankees sweep all of the major awards to go with their championship.  While Reynolds led from the hill, DiMaggio led at the plate.  He led the league in home runs and slugging, and finished third in average and runs batted in.
