2006 - Celebrate Scouting!


Whispering Pines District

2nd Annual Turkey Fest for 2006

Where:  Turkey Swamp Park

200 Georgia Road, Freehold Twp., NJ


Who:       All District 2 Packs, Troops and Crews and their Families

All scouts and their families are invited to campout Saturday November 5th

Note: Each Cub Scout must be accompanied by at least one parent all though both parents are welcome.  The whole family is welcome.


When:     November 4th and 5th

Troops and Crews that can help set-up Friday night are welcome to camp out Friday night November 3rd.


Why:         Turkey Fest is a day of food and fun. The cooking team will be cooking a complete Turkey dinner outdoors. While the food is cooking you can participate at our many activities. Have you ever built a water bottle rocket and launched it? Have you ever made a catapult to toss a rubber turkey the farthest? You will this weekend. We will also have games that all can enjoy together.


Help:         We need your unit cooks/chef’s. Our cooking team has a lot of food to prepare for a large group of hungry Scouts. Cooking team will meet the week before to review the menu and the cooking plan. We are asking for at least one adult member from each unit to help cook, in addition any Scout who would like to help in the kitchen can participate in the cooking


                   We also need volunteers to help run the activities both adults and older scouts are needed.



Costs:                $5.00 for day participants

                             $7.00 for participants staying over night

Schedule of Events


7:00   to 8:30 AM                        Check-In, Camp Site Set-up if camping out

8:30   to 9:00 AM                   Opening Ceremony

9:00   to 11:30 AM       Activities

11:30 to 12:20 PM       Break

12:30 to 2:50 PM                   Activities

3:00 PM    -------            Turkey Dinner

8:00 PM    -------            Camp Fire


*Please note any Cub Scout staying overnight, must have a parent or guardian staying with them.


Cub Scout activity pins can be earned during Turkey fest; the Scouts have their choice of Showman, Engineer, and Outdoorsman & Ready man.
