57 Chevy, Two Door, 210 Wagon

The History of this 1957 Chevy, Two Door, 210 Wagon

Car came from New Mexico. With the exception of several sections of the floor, the car was found to be rust free and structurally sound. The wagon came through with its numbers matching 265 CU V8 with a three speed stick with overdrive.  The motor has been completely redone and has no more than 30 miles on it since then. In addition the transmission was gone through, the clutch redone, the front end reworked with all new parts, all brakes and braking system redone or replaced as well.

Frame was lifted and taken down to bare metal, primed, and then painted original black. A rotisserie was used for the body. Frame did not need any rust repair. All rubber parts, grommets, washers, shocks, gaskets, and all attached to the frame and /or to the body were replaced. For all purposes, the frame and its components now appear as new! There is a picture record of much of these activities available for buyer.

Body was stripped of all paint, all body imperfections removed, body was blocked and primed with a rust resistant paint. Driver’s rear quarter and driver’s front fender were replaced with new stock due to body damage over the years, not rust! The wagon was repainted original matador red body with cream roof. Color scheme was carried through into the interior paint and eventually the custom upholstery.

All bezels and lights on the dash were replaced. All dash wiring was replaced. All internal wiring was replaced along the frame, into the dash and through the firewall. Horn and shifting linkage rebuilt.

All rubber bushings, grommets, and particulars attached to the firewall were replaced.

All doorframes and window frames were cleaned, painted and rebuilt mechanically. Several of the glass windows and the windshield were replaced. Doors and windows work as new.

All new rims and bias tires were purchased.  New wheel covers, new shocks were attached. New exhaust system and muffler were installed. Gas tank cleaned/reworked, new carburetor, new four-core radiator, and new wheel bearings.

Custom soft red and white vinyl interior installed with new red carpets, and new headliner, as well! Look at the pictures!

All chrome re-plated. All stainless professionally polished. Some new pieces added!

The original radio was replaced by a look alike-“Custom Autosound.” A 10 position CD tape deck was hidden under the back seat. Four speakers were added. Plays beautiful “fifties music!”

There are so many other parts and supplies that were purchased and used in this restoration that it could fill many more lines and pages. I have a book of these items from day one and will copy them for the next owner.

Total Restoration cost, approximately $91,000, as of 08-18-2008.  This is a beautiful car. Remember, anyone can own a “Nomad!” Try and find a “210-2 door-wagon” taken to this level of restoration.
