Joe Edkin lives in Elmira, NY. He is a two-time recipient of locally-presented A.C.E.s (Awards for Cablecasting Excellence --"Outstanding Comedy / Variety Programming" 1991 and 1992) for writing, producing, directing, editing, and acting in the cable television series Nothing Sacred. He was the Art Director for William Sullivan Advertising in Millburn, NJ, from June 2000 through July 2005.
His adaptation (with co-author and director Stan Barber) of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, in which he appeared as the heroic lead John Utterson, was produced in 1997 by the Pax Amicus Castle Theatre in Budd Lake, NJ, and was greeted with positive reviews. The production was revived in September of 2002 by the On Broadway Theater in Coos Bay, Oregon, in a production directed Janet Horton-Payne. In addition to writing, acting, and directing, he is a former instructor at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, Inc. in Dover, NJ. Joe has collected some of his lecture notes from his "Writing for Imaginative Media" class and written a series of essays on Writing for Comic Books, the first few chapters of which are available on this site. Joe will be a guest at the The Syracuse Comic Book Expo on Sunday, May 21st. |
