Congratulations to Brandon Fisher, the new Eastwood Elementary School chess champion. Brandon, a 5th grader, scored a perfect 4-0 to take clear first in the Eastwood championship. The tournament attracted 16 student participants to the school on March 18.
Other trophy winners in grades 4-6 were Sean Stepp, a 6th grader, who finished second, and Reece Misura, a 4th grader, who finished third. Ryan Wider received the trophy for top player in 3rd grade and under, Cameron Ritenour won the second place trophy for that age group, and Scott Hanberg the third place trophy. All are 3rd graders and all scored two points.
