We Miss you Princess

Fiz represents PVPC at Pet World Expo Maryland, 2002

Fizgig (Elizabethan; a hissing, sputtering firework or a giddy frivolous woman, also Kira's pet in The Dark Crystal) was adopted from the DC Animal Shelter in October of 2000. Originally "Miss Finesse", her Peke attitude and resemblance to Kira's Fizzgig soon had her renamed.

We nearly lost her early on due to an unexpected pyometria (the vet for the DC Animal Shelter saw a scar, so concluded she'd been spayed already), but Dr. Hambright pulled her through.

She graduated from PetSmart's obedience training, much to everyone's surprise (we expected her "independent spirit" to come through), and introduced us to the Potomac Valley Pekingese Club.

None of the other dogs appreciated the rescued Pekes who came to foster with us - one was bad enough; even Smiley found that it was hard to "out-cute" several at once.

As she got older, she became more crowd-averse; she'd greet us, but visitors often didn't even realize she was around. Up to the last, she'd move to whichever room we were in, unless it was time for her evening treat. Then, she'd be firmly ensconced in "The Dog Biscuit Room".

When the end came it was sudden. She lost interest in her food, but would take Triscuits and would still accept canned. She was getting gasping spells as well; then Sunday evening she just stopped breathing.
