FF National Run Group |
1. F500 should run with FFords all the time in Nationals. This will give us INSTANT credibility & will immediately bring new blood into the class (my opinion only) This is a tough sell for the Ford guys but the Vee guys are on our side & the SCCA can be sold on this. It will also force us to get better. |

Kawasaki overbore |
2. Allow the overbore of the Kawasaki to close to 500cc. I think that Weisco makes a 480cc piston. Sleeve or nikasil the cylinders. Have to decide whether it needs twin pipes or single pipe, NO PORTING WORK. Weight TBD. This may not mean much but it will bring out more than a few cars into road racing for very little $$$. MORE CARS. |

AMW Mikuni Carb allowance |
3. Allow new intake manifolds & regular 38mm Mikuni carbs on the AMW engine. Again very little cost & it will bring some cars out of the garage. MORE CARS. |

Recommend Electric Start |
4. GCR should recommend electric start, but not require it. This is a credibility issue but will cost some money but it is not huge. Someone will figure out a cheap kit |

Allow Removal of Pull Starter |
5. Allow for the removal of the pull starter if you want it. This saves a little weight when you have electric start & will allow for better pipe packaging. |

Allow Removal of Thermostat |
6. Get rid of the totally meaningless thermostat rule. These engines do not need it & it is a waste of money. Also allow any cooling plumbing that works. Who needs all the BS extra hoses on the 493. MAKE LIFE SIMPLER |

Allow Anti-Roll Bars |
7. Allow for the use of VERY simple steel bar stock or tubing only anti-roll bars. They can be bent or have welded lever ends on the roll bars. NO ON BOARD OR BLADE TYPE ADJUSTMENTS. This will help the handling of the cars & make them more adjustable for VERY LITTLE COST. BETTER HANDLING CARS. |

Allow Longer Suspension Rubbers |
8. The stresses on the suspension springing rubbers are much higher than any of the materials are meant for. This causes the setups of the cars to be inconsistent. The solution is to allow for longer spring rubbers. What this will do is significantly lower the stresses on the rubbers and all the suspension bits. It will make the suspension setups MUCH more repeatable and easy to set up & get the cars right. It will not add any cost at all as the system will not require the very carefully machined plungers and receivers. The costs might actually go down. I have tested these elastomers on shock dynos & it will work for next to nothing. I even have a manufacturer who will supply a very consistent part very inexpensively. I will supply parts and engineering assistance for FREE to anyone who has a serious interest in giving this a try. BETTER MORE CONSISTENT CARS. |

13" wheeels |
9. 13" wheels will make tire suppliers happy, and make our cars less "bastard". In addition we should get more consistant handling. Even Formula SAE don't use the 10" wheels. It could be phased in over a two year period. |

kawasaki porting |
10. allow kawasaki porting & require them to run a single pipe or maybe keep twin pipes depending upon performance |

Drop 50 pound penalty for 493 |
11. Drop the 50 pound weight increase from the 493 engine. after a year it's obvious the the 493 is no faster then the 494. The 50 pound weight penalty is absolutely KILLING new engine sales. Nobody wants to pay more to go slower! |

Wheelbase limits |
12. Change the rules to read "minimum wheelbase 78 inches, no maximum stated." Our cars have difficulty keeping weight down to minimum levels, so if I want to build a 81" wheelbase car, I feel I should be able to do that. |

jschmidt@kumc.edu |
width limits |
13. Change the rules to read, " minimum width measured at outside of tires 50" with maximum of 60". We could get away from the measurement calipers at solo nationals. We need to put the wide tires on the front without modifying a-arms or buying expensive custom-made wheels. Wide front tires are essential for solo, but not for road racing. |

carbon-fiber wheels |
14. Allow use of carbon fiber wheels for our cars. The prices have come down dramatically over the years and are a lot stronger than they used to be. ATV racers use them, as do F1 and micro-sprint cars. |

494 rave motor |
15. Allow 494 rave motors to be used. Allow a non rave cylinder liner to be used with the rave cylinders. This would help out in a plentiful supply of used motors. |
| Bill Schmidt |
jschmidt@kumc.edu |
exhaust pipes |
16. Allow all legal engines to run either 2 into 1 pipe exhause system or run twin pipes. I dont see the strict requirement we have now as serving any real purpose, other than another restrictive rule that is not necessary. |

reinstall balance tube on 493 engines |
17. the engine was designed to run with it.since the removal the cars have a driveability issue.they hesitate and bogs in high speed turns. |

Reduce 493 penalty to 25 lbs. |
18. Consider an interim, compromise weight reduction of 25 lbs. on 493 powered cars. Re-examine the weight penalty after one year. This may mollify some with 494 engines yet still provide some incentive to invest in the 493-the new engine of TODAY. |
