So what now? I gotta be honest with you the 'Cuda is a blast to drive and it always feels good when someone gives you a "thumbs up" when driving down the road. But the most enjoyable part for me is meeting new people, sharing stories, and being able to take part in the many fund raising events which help those in need.

I posted a few pictures of the 'Cuda's first car show. It was the last car show of the season for the Tidewater Mopar Club and about 90 cars showed up. As you can see from reading the "Car Shows the 'Cuda's been in" there was another car show a week later in Newport News Park. It was an overcast day with the threat of rain all day. Still over 300 show cars showed up. The 'Cuda won a couple of awards that day but what sticks out most in my mind was at the end of the day several Car Clubs presented donations to CHKD (The Children's Hospital of Kings Daughters) which is a local hospital for children that relies heavily on donations to care for not only the areas children but children throughout the country as well. What I remember most is the Tidewater Mopar Club's presentation of a $10,000 check which was raised from various car shows and events they held throughout the year. This donation was made possible by the dedicated folks who put the car shows on, the folks and companies who sponsor them, the folks who restore and enter their cars in the show, and last but not least the folks who come to see the cars with their families and friends.

Throughout the country during show season this cycle repeats itself every weekend. For me personally this is the most gratifying part of my hobby. If given the choice between a huge car show with big cash rewards for entrants but no money to be raised for a good cause and a small local show with $10 trophies but one whose sole intent is to raise money for a good cause for those in need I'd pick the small show every time. I think it's fair to say from my experience at many a car show that other car enthusiasts share this feeling with me as well. I won't lie to you, at the end of the day it does feel good to get that $10 trophy. It does help to remind you of all the hard work, money, and blood and sweat you spent restoring your car. But when I look at my trophy shelf in my garage I'm more likely to remember the organization the 'Cuda helped raise funds for then what place she took. So if you have a automobile that's either fully restored or in the process I encourage you to get out this season a put it in a car show, most local shows don't even require 'show quality cars' to enter so check around to see if you can enter your daily driver. Even if you don't own a car but like them, get out to a car show or two this year. Most car shows are for good causes and their organizers will gladly tell you more about the organizations they are raising money for.
