The photos below are from a 2003
tribute to Sir Tim Rice in El Paso. Alumni who attended the University
decades and decades ago, came from all over the world to be in
the choir, ( 100 voices big ), and they all stood on bleachers
in black t-shirts with the gold Superstar angel insignia ( or
a close copy anyway ) on the front, and they ACTED stuff out with
real enthusiasm! I must say, there is something magical
about amateur productions, for people really give their all and
there ain't nothin' jaded or faded about the buzz in the air.
There was a full orchestra and a rock band-- all on stage ( not
in the pits like on Broadway ). I loved it, and was surprised
that I actually sobbed during Gethsemone...I thought I was over
being that affected by the song. I teared up through much
of the performance to be truthful, for the nostalgia was overwhelming
and the vibe from the audience was filled with love. I was
blown away by the special effects, which was basically lighting,
and the staging- all being guided by the talented Greg Taylor,
our director. I'd do it all over again- not just to perform, but
to be in that great little town with the bighearted people.

Here's one from El Paso, performing
the role of Mary Magdelene for the first time in 30 years since
doing the movie, for a tribute to Tim Rice. Jesus is being
played by Danny Zolli, and the other guy playing Judas is...Ron
Bohmer.

Reahearsing for the El Paso Show.
