trains ended up crashing together as a result.

Jack and CTU find out the object in the briefcase can cause a meltdown of nuclear power plants which result in leakage
of radiation.
January 25th - A Michigan nuclear powerplant was forced to shut down after water began leaking into a containment vessel
at 50 gallons per minute.

Secretary Heller's broadcasted trial diverted the attention of the hacking into the nuclear power plant's computer systems.

It is possible that this is not a coincidence.
In Season 3, Stephen Saunders revealed that he was part of Operation Nightfall in Kosovo.
There is a real Stephen Saunders that was also involved in some mission in Kosovo.
It might not be a coincidence, as the real Stephen Saunders was killed in 2000 and Season 3 aired in 2003-2004, I
am concluding that the '24' writers may have just named the character after this real person.

As we all know, or at least should, is that the series premiere of 24 was postponed due to the attacks of 9/11. Also,
a scene of the plane, the assassin Mandy blew up, on fire was taken out due to 9/11.
