"But of that [exact] day
and hour no one knows,
not even the angels of
heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father."
(Matthew 24:36)
(The Amplified Bible)

"Jesus is coming soon!"
"He Who gives this warning
and affirms and testifies
to these things says, Yes
(it is true), [Surely} I
am coming quickly (swiftly,
speedily). Amen (so let it
be)! Yes, come, Lord Jesus!
The grace (blessing and
favor) of the Lord Jesus
Christ (the Messiah) be
with all the saints (God's
holy people, those set
apart for God, to be, as
it were, exclusively His).
Amen (so let it be)!"
(Revelation 22:20, 21)
(The Amplified Bible)

"Nevertheless, do not
let this one fact
escape you, beloved, that
with the Lord one day is
as a thousand years and
a thousand years as one
day.
The Lord does not delay
and is not tardy and slow
about what He promises,
according to some people's
conception of slowness,
but He is long-suffering
(extraordinarily patient)
toward you, not desiring
that any should perish,
but that all should
turn to repentance.
But the day of the Lord
will come like a thief,
and then the heavens
will vanish (pass away)
with a thunderous
crash, and the [material]
elements [of the universe]
will be dissolved with
fire, and the earth and
the works that are upon
it will be burned up.
Since all these things
are thus in the process
of being dissolved, what
kind of person ought
[each of] you to be [in
the meanwhile] in
consecrated and holy
behavior and devout and
godly qualities,
While you wait and
earnestly long for
(expect and hasten) the
coming of the day of
God by reason of
which the flaming
heavens will be
dissolved, and
[material] elements
[of the universe]
will flare and melt
with fire?
But we look for new
heavens and a new
earth according to
His promise, in
which righteousness
(uprightness, free-
dom from sin, and
right standing with
God) is to abide.
"So, beloved, since you
are expecting these
things, be eager to be
found by Him [at His
coming] without spot or
blemish and at peace
[in secure confidence,
free from fears and
agitating passions and
moral conflicts].
And consider that the
long-suffering of our
Lord [His slowness in
avenging wrongs and
judging the world] is
salvation (that which
is conducive to the
soul's safety), even
as our beloved brother
Paul also wrote to you
according to the
spiritual insight
given him."
(II Peter 3:8 - 15)
(The Amplified Bible)

"And I assure you of this:
If anyone acknowledges me
publicly here on earth, I,
the Son of Man, will
openly acknowledge that
person in the presence
of God's angels."
(Luke 12:8)
(New Living Translation)

"We deny Jesus when we
(1) hope no one will
find out we are
Christians,
(2) decide not to speak
up for what is right,
(3) are silent about our
relationship with
God,
(4) blend into society, and
(5) accept our culture's
non-Christian values.

By contrast, we acknowledge
Him when we
(1) live a moral, upright,
Christ-honoring life,
(2) look for opportunities
to share our faith with
others,
(3) help others in need,
(4) take a stand for justice,
(5) love others,
(6) acknowledge our loyalty
to Christ, and
(7) use our life and
resources to carry out
His desires rather
than our own.

of Jesus)

"But the end and culmination
of all things has now come
near; keep sound minded and
self-restrained and alert
therefore for [the practice
of] prayer.
Above all things have
intense and unfailing love
for one another, for love
covers a multitude of
sins [forgives and
disregards the offenses
of others]."
(I Peter 4:7,8)
(The Amplified Bible)

"Take notice! I tell you
a mystery (a secret truth,
an event decreed by the
hidden purpose or counsel
of God). We shall not
all fall asleep [in death],
but we shall all be
changed (transformed).
In a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye,
at the [sound of the]
last trumpet call.
For a trumpet will
sound, and the dead
[in Christ] will be
raised imperishable
(free and immune
from decay), and we
shall be changed
(transformed).
For this perishable
[part of us] must
put on the imperishable
[nature], and this
mortal [part of us,
this nature that is
capable of dying]
must put on imortality
(freedom from death).
And when this perishable
puts on the imperishable
and this that was
capable of dying puts
on freedom from death,
then shall be fulfilled
the Scripture that says,
Death is swallowed up
(utterly vanquished
forever) in and unto
victory.
O death, where is your
victory? O death, where
is your sting?
Now sin is the sting of
death, and sin exercises
its power [upon the soul]
through [the abuse of]
the Law.
But thanks be to God, Who
gives us the victory
[making us conquerors]
through our Lord Jesus
Christ."
(I Corinthians 15:51-57)
(The Amplified Bible)

"And Jesus cried out and said, 'He who believes
in Me does not believe in Me, but in Him who
sent Me.
And he who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me.
I have come as light into the world, that everyone
who believes in Me may not remain in darkness.
And if anyone hears My sayings, and does not keep
them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to
judge the world, but to save the world.
He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings,
has one who judges Him; the word I spoke is what
will judge him at the last day.
For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the
Father Himself who sent Me has given Me commandment, what to say, and what to speak.
And I know that His commandment is eternal life;
therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the
Father has told Me."
(John 12: 44-50) (New American Standard Version)

"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps
burning, like men waiting for their master to
return from a wedding banquet, so that when he
comes and knocks they can immediately open the
door for him. It will be good for those servants
whose master finds them watching when he comes.
I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to
serve, will have them recline at the table and
will come and wait on them. It will be good for
those servants whose master finds them ready,
even if he comes in the second or third watch
of the night. But understand this: If the
owner of the house had known at what hour the
thief was coming, he would not have let his
house be broken into. You also must be ready,
because the Son of Man will come at an hour
when you do not expect Him."
(Luke 12: 35-40) (The Amplified Bible)

"'Twas the Night Before Jesus Came"

"'Twas the night before Jesus came and all
through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.
When out of the East there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!
The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.
In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said 'It's not here' my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound
While all the rest were left standing around.
I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all!"

"Jesus said that even He did not know the time
of His return, but that when it happened, it
would be unmistakable. Mark 13:26-27 describes
a day that all believers can anticipate eagerly
and joyfully:
[Jesus said] "Then everyone will see the Son of
Man arrive on the clouds with great power and
glory. And He will send forth His angels to
gather together His chosen ones from all over
the world - from the farthest ends of the earth
and heaven."  (New Living Translation)
"Jesus is preparing a beautiful place for us
to reign with Him for all eternity. In
John 14:2-4, He promises to return for us to
take us to that wondrous place.
"There are many rooms in my Father's home,
and I am going to prepare a place for you.
If this were not so, I would tell you plainly.
When everything is ready, I will come and get
you, so that you will always be with me where
I am. And you know where I am going and how
to get there."  (New Living Translation)
"After spending forty days with His disciples,
Jesus ascended to heaven. Angels reassured
His followers that Jesus would return in the
same way He left.
Acts 1:9-11 describes the scene:
"It was not long after He said this that He
was taken up into the sky while they were
watching, and He disappeared into a cloud.
As they were straining their eyes to see Him,
two white-robed men suddenly stood there among
them. They said, 'Men of Galilee, why are you
standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has
been taken away from you into heaven. And
someday, just as you saw Him go, He will return!"
(New Living Translation)
"Why did the disciples stand and look intently
into the sky? Maybe they were stunned and amazed
at seeing Jesus ascend into the air through the
clouds. They may have been saddened by His
sudden disappearance and were looking anxiously
for Him to descend. Or perhaps they were
confused and didn't know what else to do.
Whatever their thought or motives, however,
two angels gave them the message they needed
to hear. They could stop looking up and
start looking around at the world and its
needy people. They could stop waiting and
start working to fulfill Christ's commission.
They could stop wondering and start living
with the assurance that Jesus would come again,
just as He had promised. Although nearly two
thousand years have passed since this dramatic
event, the angels' message still stands -
Jesus will surely return. That truth should
continue to motivate believers. In fact,
each day that passes provides another day
to work for Christ and His kingdom. Keep
hoping, working, loving, sharing the
Good News, and living for the Savior.
He will come back."

"The Prophecy of the Second Coming"

"For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according
to his works. 'Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see
the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.'"

"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.
And He said to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you that
there are some standing here who will not taste
death till they see the kingdom of God present
with power."

"THE LORD'S COMING"

"My friends, we want you to understand how it will be for those followers who have already died. Then you won't grieve over them and be like people who don't have any hope. We believe that Jesus died and was raised to life. We also believe that when God brings Jesus back again, He will bring with Him all who had faith in Jesus before they died. Our Lord Jesus told us that when He comes, we won't go up to meet Him ahead of His followers who have already died.  With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God's trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever. Encourage each other with these words."  (I Thessalonians 4: 13 - 18)(Contemporary English Version)

"'The time has come,' he said. 'The kingdom of God
is near. Repent and believe the good news!'"
(Mark 1:15) (New International Version)

My prayer is that every person who reads this is ready
and waiting for the Lord's return! If not, please at
least consider the verses from the Bible which you have
just read, and ask God to illuminate those verses in
your mind. He is not a man that He should lie! (Read
Numbers 23:19) which says: "God is not a man, that He
should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken,
and will He not make it good?" (New King James Version)
