"HIS HANDS"

"His hands were soft, small and red
on a crisp morn in Bethlehem...
His hands were strong, calloused and scarred,
as He fashioned a new chair for home...
His hands were confident, gentle and firm
as He touched the sick and lame...
His hands were broken, bleeding and bruised,
as He gave His life away.
His hands are reaching out to mankind,
drawing, beckoning and holding us
close to the heart of God."

THE BLESSING IN 'NO'

"I asked God to take away my pride.
God said 'No.'
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said 'No'.'
Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said 'No.'
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't
granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said 'No.'
I give you blessings, happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.
God said 'No.'
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said 'No.'
You must grow on your own, but I will prune
you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said 'No.'
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He
loves me.
God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!"

"Birds sing...and never have to apologize for their songs.
Dogs bark and kittens meow...but they never have to say, 'I'm sorry for what I just said.'
Lions roar and hyenas howl...but they never have to retract their statements as being untrue.  The fact is, the members of the animal kingdom are themselves, and they are true in their expression to what they were created to be.
Many times we human beings find ourselves embarrassed at our own words - feeling apologetic, caught in an awkward moment, or recognizing we have spoken the wrong words at the wrong time - because we have begun evaluating the performance of others and develop a critical attitude.
The bluejay doesn't criticize the robin. The kitten doesn't make snide remarks about the puppy. The lion doesn't ridicule the hyena. In like manner, we should not put down others whom we can never fully understand, never fully appreciate, or never fully emulate.
Stick to your singing your own song today, and appreciate the uniqueness of those around you. You will easily avoid putting your foot in your mouth!"

"And all things, whatever ye shall ask in
prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
(Matthew 21:22) (King James Version)
"Prayer is a two-way conversation; it is
our talking to God, and His talking to us.
As a Christian, you have a heavenly Father
who hears and answers prayer. Jesus said,
'All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in
prayer, believing, ye shall receive.'
Every man or woman whose life has counted
for the church and the Kingdom of God has
been a person of prayer. You cannot afford
to be too busy to pray. A prayerless
Christian is a powerless Christian. Jesus
Christ spent many hours in prayer. Sometimes
He spent the night on a mountaintop in solitary
communion with God the Father. If He felt that
He had to pray, how much more do we need to pray!"

"Two girls were being observed in a parking lot.  They were working with a coat hanger and a locked Mercedes.  Soon the first girl said, 'Hurry up!  It's starting to rain, and the top is down!"

"The power of the Lord is present to heal you."
 (Luke 5:17)
"Now it happened that on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them."
"PICTURE, if you will, God the Father sitting on His throne in heaven and Jesus on earth healing the sick and performing miracles. And what about the Holy Spirit? He's the channel, the contact between both personalities...
Picture this. Jesus is walking past a man who is very sick. The Father picks up the phone (as if He needed one) and says, 'Holy Spirit? Stop Jesus! Tell Him to halt right where He is.'
The Spirit says, 'Okay. Jesus, stop.'
He speaks into the phone and says, 'Father, what should He do?'
'Tell Him to heal that man,' says the voice of God.
Jesus immediately lays His hands on the man, the power of the Spirit flowing through Him, and the man is miraculously raised up."
(Benny Hinn - The Miracle of Healing)

One Incredible Plan

"When human hands fastened the divine hands to a cross with spikes, it wasn't the soldiers who held the hands of Jesus steady. It was God who held them steady. Those same hands that formed the oceans and built the mountains. Those same hands that designed the dawn and crafted each cloud. Those same hands that blueprinted one incredible plan for you and me.  Take a stroll out to the hill. Out to Calvary. Out to the cross where, with holy blood, the hand that placed you on the planet wrote the promise, 'God would give up His only Son before He'd give up on you.'
(Max Lucado - Grace For The Moment)

"Uzziah was a successful king. God gave
him success in war, in peace, and in all
of his plans, but only as long as Uzziah
relied on God for help. He experienced
failure as soon as he took pride in his
achievements, thinking he was the reason
for his success. Second Chronicles 26:5
reveals:   'Uzziah sought God during the days of
Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear
of God. And as long as the king sought the
LORD, God gave him success.'
(New Living Translation)
In contract, Paul acknowledged God as the
source of his success. In 2 Corinthians 3:5,
he gave God credit for all of his achievements.
Paul knew that he could do nothing of eternal
value without the power of the Holy Spirit
working through him.
It is not that we think we can do anything
of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power
and success come from God.'
(New Living Translation)
Ecclesiates 12:13-14 gives us an eternal
perspective. In this summary to Solomon's
chronicle of his search for meaning and
purpose in life, he concludes that the secret
of success is to 'fear God and obey His
commands'.   'Here is my final conclusion: Fear God
and obey His commands, for this is the duty
of every person. God will judge us for
everything we do, including every secret
thing, whether good or bad.'
(New Living Translation)
From a human perspective, people should seek
pleasure, wealth, popularity, and power -
these things bring success, according to the
world. Solomon had achieved all of that and
more; yet he summarized it all as meaningless,
empty, vain. Solomon had learned that spend-
ing a lifetime pursuing worldly success just
leads to moral and spiritual bankruptcy. It
doesn't satisfy, and it fades as quickly as
the morning dew.   But looking at life from beyond finite human
experience, Solomon could see that, in reality,
only God matters. So he implores us to 'fear
God and obey  His commands'.
No matter how you rate on the world's scale,
focus on God and his standard. Success in  His
eyes is all that really matters."

"If you and I could understand the absolute perfection of our Heavenly Father, we would never again ask the reason 'why' regarding
His guidance, His wisdom or His dealings
with us. Every time one of His children
looks up through bitter tears and asks the
question, 'why', that one questions the
Heavenly Father's intelligence, His wisdom, His power, His authority, His perfection
and His love. If we are completely surrendered unto Him, body and soul and spirit; if we are living up to all the light that we have regarding
spiritual things and abiding in His perfect will, then absolutely nothing can come into our lives and nothing can touch us but that which He allows and permits. It is impossible for our Heavenly Father to make a mistake. He is perfect wisdom
and perfect knowledge."
