I was attending Liberty Grove United Methodist Church when I made this. Our sister church in Russia is the
Tree of Life church, so the imagery was two trees reaching across the ocean to each other.
This design is based on one by Gai Perry in her book "Impressionist Landscapes". I used many different floral fabrics
to create the "leaves" of the tree, and blended floral fabrics of medium scale in the foreground to small scale in the background
to create the impression of distance.
I involved many people in the congregation, including children, to sign their name, draw a picture, or write
good wishes on squares for the back of the quilt (see below).
