Auditions are held at the
Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center Annex building.
No previous experience is necessary, however students should be creative, able to take direction and focus well, and either be able to read well, or memorize quickly. The age rule is 10 years and above. Three hour rehearsals are long and difficult for younger people who will be asked to develop characterizations and focus on rehearsing for many weeks. With that in mind, we are not currently accepting new students under the age of 10.
Cast size is entirely dependent upon the script; therefore not everyone who auditions will necessarily get cast. However those that do not may be asked to join the cast as an extra or crew member.
Auditions for
The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be September 9 by appointment with Callbacks on September 11, beginning at 1:30pm. Actors need to bring with them a completed audition form. They will have a head shot taken and be asked to read from the scripts. You can access the online audition forms
here. All audition forms must have the signed commitment agreement attached and the schedule initialed by a parent.
Actors will be offered roles and given scripts on September 11. Rehearsals will begin on September 16.
Email the director to reserve an audition slot:
julielittle@verizon.net with actors' names and ages.
Deadline to request an audition slot is August 31. A list of specific audition times for each person who requests a slot will be issued before auditions. Download copies of the auditions scenes
here.
Prior to auditions, actors should generally be familiar with the story by Victor Hugo and 15th century France. Several versions of
The Hunchback of Notre Dame can be found in the local library. Audio versions can be found within the Fairfax County Library system.
Please read the information on the
scheduling page to be sure that your family can commit to the schedule before auditioning. No one will be cast who is not available during Tech Week.
