"If
there was no Arafat and if there were no pan-Arabists and no radical Islamists,
there would be a Palestine."
This statement is giving Arafat too
much credit. The only reason that there is even TALK of a Palestinian State is
to REPLACE Israel. The Arabs would not only not have the initiative to build
'palestine' as a separate country on their own, they would not have the
world-wide support that they receive precisely because they are anti-Israel! No
one cares what happens to the poor Arabs in any of their countries and none of
them are PEACEFUL towards each other! If the Arabs didn't have Israel to fight
against, they would turn against Christians instead.
Arafat did not INVENT the anti-Israeli sentiment that he is exploiting any more
than Hitler did. As for talking about what conditions in the Middle East would
be like without Islamic fanatics... Frankly, one could just as 'realistically'
talk about what would happen if the world turned out to be flat after all.
The only way to have two countries -- Israel and Palestine -- living peacefully
alongside each other is to read about it in a book. ARABS (and many non-Arabs)
DO NOT WANT PEACE WITH ISRAEL!!!! So as long as there are Arabs in the Middle
East that the rest of the world panders to, they will try and destroy Israel and
REPLACE it! But, even that will not bring PEACE; only the people fighting each
other would not include Jews!
