Daito-ryu
Aikijujutsu Yamabushi Kai
Yamabushi Jujutsu/Aikijujutsu Ryu, Inc.
was established in 1982 by Miguel Ibarra, Hanshi. It is a blending of MiYama Ryu Jujutsu
and Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu techniques for a realistic approach to street self defense.
Mr. Ibarra trained directly under Shinan Antonio Pereira and obtained a Mokuroku [Yondan]
from him in Mi Yama Ryu Jujutsu and a Menkyo License [Rokudan] in San Yamabushi
Jujutsu [offshoot of MiYama Ryu] from Shinan Hector Negron. Additionally, Ibarra
trained in Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Kodo Kai receiving a Nidan and a handwritten teaching
certificate. He continued his aikijujutsu training in Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Bokuyokan,
receiving a Sandan under Soshi Shihan Katsumi Yonezawa. He has also trained under many
other jujutsu and aikijujutsu pioneers over the last 42 years.
Ibarra continues to support all of the MiYama Ryu organizations as well as all of the
various Daito Ryu organizations currently teaching and spreading these 2 arts.
The Yamabushi Kais main focus is realistic street oriented self defense with a strong
background in traditional techniques and concepts. We do not, however, participate in
the new sport of Internet Warriorship and therefore refuse to belittle or denigrate any
instructor, black belt or other practitioner of the arts.
Hanshi Ibarra is assisted by his son Shihan René Ibarra who has been training
for 22 years and holds the ranks of Kaiden in Yamabushi Jujutsu Ryu and a Shodan in
Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Bokuyokan.
