We love Refugio State beach. We love to camp there. Since Bella was born three of us have not known this pleasure. For two
years Sean, Bella and I would drive up for the day to meet Kory, Casey, Ryan and Steven who had been “roughing it” in the
motor home the previous evening.
More often than not Daddy and the “big boys” would
drive up on a Friday about noon to be joined on Saturday morning by Mama and the “babies” for the day. We made the most of
our day visit by inviting Gram Gram and the Santa Barbara Baileys to meet us.
The kids would have a fantastic time playing in
the surf, digging
in the sand and messing around the campsite till night fall when they enjoyed a warm bath in the RV and a 90 minute ride home.
Usually the ride lulled them to sleep after the first 15 minutes and the rest of the journey was quiet save the sound of soft
snores and contented sighs.
For two years that’s how the story went, every time.

Last weekend however, Mama decided it was time to
spend the night, the whole clan. We had a marvelous time. The weather was gorgeous, Justin, the Santa Barbara Baileys and
Gram Gram joined us to celebrate Bella’s 2nd birthday with carne asada. It was a true fiesta including a piñata.
It was worth the extra effort to stay the
night. The children enjoyed it so
much I can’t wait for our next trip. I’d forgotten how sweet it is being lulled to sleep by the sound of the pounding surf.
I forgot how delicious the saline misted air smells.
My name is Cynthia and I am a Refugio addict.
