Joshua Gelyon, Tracy Krestos, and Karlen Chase designed this website for their LIS 506: Introduction to Information Technology group project at University at Buffalo. Kevin Rosier, a retired fighter and master of several different styles of martial arts, was the primary source for the attack sequences. The group also consulted Thomas Thompson, who studied under Dr. Sacho Ashida; Thompson received his Shodan in 1977. Thompson was consulted for the Rear Choke sequences.
The purpose of this website is to provide women with simple steps to take when attacked. (However, men can also use these moves.) These sequences have all been designed to use momentum to both create and conserve a woman's strength when attacked by a stronger, bigger assailant.
Internet Explorer:You may need to allow blocked content and run active content in order to view the fight sequences in the multimedia format. Otherwise, all the photos and captions will appear on one page. The photos and captions are synchronized to give you time to read the caption and view the move. When the last photo and caption appear, the sequence will start over. The longest duration of any photo and matching caption is 25 seconds.
Mozilla Firefox:When viewing the attack sequence pages in this browser, all photos and captions will appear together on one page. This browser removes the SMIL code that enables the synchronized multimedia content delivery. We recommend using Internet Explorer to view this website.
