Site features Caroline Young, a survivor of domestic abuse and author of a book on the subject. Site contains pages such as Domestic Violence (with some statistics) and Most Common Threats (page features attack sequences similar to those on our site). The My Defense page demonstrates the actual techniques Ms. Young used to survive a life-threatening situation. Also contains pages which offer advice on leaving abusive relationships, finding sources for emergency loans and financial assistance, and obtaining work and legal assistance.

American Women's Self-Defense Association (AWSDA) www.awsda.org

Official website of the American Women's Self-Defense Association. Founded in 1990, the AWSDA focuses on women's self-defense and rape prevention. Employs firearms training in addition to hand-to-hand combat. The AWSDA holds seminars throughout the United States.

Women's Self-Defense Institute www.rapeescape.com

Site contains a listing of certified women's self-defense instructors throughout the United States, the province of Ontario, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia. Contains a page with information on the Rape Escape video instruction series. Offers firearms training courses.

Arming Women Against Rape and Endangerment (AWARE) www.aware.org

Founded in 1990, AWARE describes itself as "a source of training, information and support for people, primarily women, learning how to cope with violence." Similar in mission to AWSDA, AWARE offers firearms training courses.

The site is deceptively named, as it does not deal exclusively with Kung Fu. Real Combat Online is a forum for people seeking practical martial arts training in no specific style. Contains a link to a Jeet Kune Do site (the martial art developed by Bruce Lee).

International Tae Kwon-Do Association www.itatkd.com

Official website of the ITA. Good source of information for instructors, students, and prospective students. Lists time-in-rank requirements and advancement test requirements; features a section for instructors.

All-Karate.com www.all-karate.com

Contains information on multiple styles of karate, including Goju-Ryu, Shotokan, Shito-Ryu and Kenpo karate. Videos and frame-by-frame images demonstrate techniques.

Krav Maga Worldwide www.kravmaga.com

Martial art used by the Israeli military. Very well-suited to women because it was developed for women and men of all builds and levels of physical ability. Style is well-suited to law enforcement and self-defense because it stresses the practical.

World Modern Arnis Alliance www.wmarnis.com

Filipino martial art. Teaches stick fighting techniques in addition to punching and kicking. Many extras in martial arts movies (e.g. the Imada brothers and Dan Inosanto) are practitioners of this martial art.
