Welcome to Happily Ever Active!
Children today are more sedentary than ever, sitting at
computers, watching television, and playing electronic games. The hectic pace of the 21st century lifestyle
leaves little time for families to enjoy outdoor activities. Whole foods are taking a backseat to
processed food, and schools are reducing physical education. All the while childhood obesity continues to
rise at an alarming rate. Happily Ever
Active is an exciting program designed to combat these obstacles. Happily Ever Active is a unique creative fitness program
for children ages two and a one-half to seven years that integrates physical
fitness with children’s literature. Each
class begins with a guided dramatization of a children's story. After the reenactment children participate in
gross motor activities which introduce a variety of sports and physical arts,
and encourage cooperation. Each game’s
creative theme reinforces literature comprehension, vocabulary, and concepts
from the story. The class ends with
stretching and the story’s summary in a back massage. Happily Ever Active classes promote literacy skills while
improving endurance, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Children are encouraged to move freely while
maintaining awareness of space, boundaries and safety. Classes are taught in small groups to ensure
individualized attention. Happily Ever
Active promotes pleasure of reading and instills the long-term joy of a
healthy, active lifestyle.
