How Happily Ever Active Began
I am Katie Clark, the founder of Happily ever Active (HEA).
I began HEA in 1999 in Cambridge, MA as an after-school program where I
was teaching preschool. My first class
had two children. Nine years later, I am
teaching HEA in 15 different schools and working with over 600
children. Prior to starting HEA I taught preschool for
nineteen years, and co-directed Evergreen Day School in Cambridge, MA during ten of those years. With a strong passion for children’s literature and a love of physical
activity, I discovered a way to combine my interests and continue working with
young children. HEA has enjoyed
increasing success, due in large part to
parent and professional referrals. In addition to teaching HEA I am a part-time personal
trainer. I have a Masters degree in
Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development. I had 20 years of classical ballet training
and 15 years of gymnastics training, competition and teaching. I am an ACE certified personal trainer and am
certified through the American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid.
