ORIGIN
Ken Dahleen, Idyllwild property owner since 1975 and full time resident since 1982, observed a need for a summer concert series event in the Idyllwild area. Since the Idyllwild and surrounding areas are unincorporated, there were no city budgets to offer a program of this nature. Mr. Dahleen first approached several community and business leaders in May of 2000 and proposed to organize a committee to raise funds and serve as administrator of the first concert season. The idea was well received and IDYLLWILD SUMMER CONCERTS 2000 became a reality. Other community members and local service clubs were invited to join in to put on what was our first concert series of four (4) concerts. Year two saw an increase to five (5) concerts, a major increase in attendance, and the support of Riverside County Supervisor Jim Venable who wholeheartedly got behind the Idyllwild Summer Concerts with moral and financial help and the blessing of the full board of supervisors in a resolution of support. The summer concerts were a hit. Year three found the concerts in their new home: The beautiful park entrance of the Mt San Jacinto State Park in the center of Idyllwild. This year the IDYLLWILD SUMMER CONCERTS 2005 will be at its most aggressive beginning July 7th and continuing for seven (8) consecutive weeks. This program is hailed as the fastest growing concert series in Riverside County. The performing groups are professional artist and are carefully selected to bring the finest of music to our community. Year
2005 will find the IDYLLWILD SUMMER CONCERTS again at Mt. San Jacinto
