Welcome to my website!
Here is a clearinghouse of information on Leslie Shafer's bridge teaching activities. If you have
any questions that you don't see addressed on this website, please let me know.
The best 10 years of my life started when I began to teach bridge full time, meeting all of you and making
so many new friends. What a blessing it is to be able to love your job. Not only is bridge a wonderful sport,
but we have found that for many students, it has enriched their own personal social contacts. We claim at
least half a dozen marriages and hundreds of new friends who have found each other.
On this site, you will find a list of both current and upcoming classes in the Montgomery
County (Maryland) area. You will also find my classroom policies, humor, the best internet
bridge sites and so much more. I hope you enjoy what I have included here in the website for you.

New Novice/Intermediate Game in Potomac!

A friend of ours, Mark Lavine, has started a new game in the Potomac area. If you have tried Charlie's & Leslie's
Student Game before and enjoyed it, you now have another opportunity to play.

Are Leslie and Charlie Moving to Florida?
Although we are currently giving the move serious consideration, it may not happen for a while (maybe years).
We are now contemplating a "temporary" move during the months of January and February for the first few years. We would
continue to hold classes from March through December in Maryland!
We understand that you do not want us to go and we are trying to find a good solution that will please everyone.
Attention AOL Users!!!
I have had many problems contacting those of you who use AOL email addresses. AOL only allows me to send about
30 emails in a 24 hour period. With over 500 of my students using AOL, it takes me about 2-3 weeks to email all of you.
This also means I can't answer emails when an AOL student has a question or problem that needs a 24-hour response.
Therefore, I am asking all AOL users to either: 1) send me an alternative email address that is NOT AOL; or 2)
send me your snail mail address so I can update you by regular mail. Please e-mail me your new information!!

Looking for a Partner or a Group
to Practice With?
I have added a new page to this website to help you find partners for yourself or for your group. It is password
protected, meaning you must have the secret email and passcode before allowed to view the personal information on the page.
Only current students will be eligible to add or read the information posted. You will be provided the secret code in
class or by request through your email to me.
If you'd like to post your "want ad" on this page, email to me the following info:

- What experience level you are searching for in a new partner; and
- Whether you are looking for just a partner, or additional players for an established group.
