This Website is lovingly dedicated to the memory of my Grandparents,
Ronald Bradford Cowell and Frances Pierson Williams Cowell, the two amazing and wonderful people
who raised me. They were dedicated and self-sacrificing parents and a day never passed that I ever doubted the Love
they had for me.
My Grandparents were very different than one another, but
these differences never diminished their love for one another. Their differences too, were helpful to me in forming
a balanced and eclectic foundation for my Journey through Life. My Grandfather encouraged self-confidence and
he nurtured my creative, athletic and adventurous sides, and my Grandmother, a Teacher, encouraged me intellectually
and taught me grace, style, etiquette, sensitivity and fairness. They both taught me Love and Kindness by their
example. For me, my "Mamie and Pop-Pop" were the perfect Yin and Yang.
One of the few regrets I have when it comes to my Grandparents
is that I didn't pay closer attention when they talked about family, and, that I didn't ask more questions. As it is
so often the case, I didn't realize how important this would be until everyone was gone and it was too late.
I do have my wonderful memories though, and the stories my
Grandparents passed-down to me through the years. I have as well, a box-full of items, writings, photographs, and other
things my Grandmother thought would be important to me that she neatly packed-up and presented me with, three years before
she died, that have also been a big help. Everything together has helped piece together a picture of the family history
I have compiled here.
My sincere hope is that this Website will perpetuate the memory
of my Grandmother and Grandfather's Light, and the big and beautiful families that came before them, pioneering their ways
through Ontario, Canada and the North Country of Upstate New York. I hope that it will also bring together family-members
that have grown into the thousands and settled in all parts of Canada, the United States and other parts of the World.
I have already been re-connected with many of them, and met even more new ones! I look forward to this continuing
trend!
I lost my Pop-Pop way too early in 1972, and Mamie was 92
in 1998 when she was finally able to be reunited with him, her one and only true-love. I still miss them both terribly.
I will always be grateful though... that there were once two people who loved me, and were proud enough of me, to
make me their own and love me unconditionally. Never once do I remember either ever saying "I Love You" followed with
a "But". They both simply loved me for me... and I them.
I Love You... Mamie and Pop-Pop... Forever and Always...
