I have had the privilege of teaching some very
talented students, and I thoroughly enjoy their lessons. My goal is for each student to improve and learn something
new in each lesson, and for the student to enjoy the time they spend with me as well. Lessons should be something that
the student looks forward to doing, not something he/she is forced to do. Group piano lessons are a wonderful and more
economical way for children to learn the basics of piano in a motivating, fun atmosphere before moving on to private lessons. Students also develop a better sense of rhythm and steady beat when playing with an
ensemble.

Lesson Rates
Lessons
are $10 for a 45 minute group class.
Payment for the entire month is due at the beginning
of each month. If we, as a group, miss a lesson for a valid reason, I will credit
you for the next month. Some of you may pay by the week for your other children
who take private lessons, but it is too time-consuming and confusing to collect payment each week from several children at
the same time.

Cancellation Policy
Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance if
a lesson is to be canceled, unless there is an emergency. If you are unable to cancel 24 hours in advance, you must still
pay for the class. Due to the group nature of the class, make-ups are not possible.

Lesson Time
During lessons, we will work on proper technique,
playing and recognizing rhythms, note reading, and basic music theory, as well as performance skills, sight-reading, and ear-training.
The goal of lessons is to make the student not only a better performer, but also a more intelligent musician.
*Recitals and festivals
We have one recital per year in the spring. There are numerous festival and contest opportunities through MCMTA (Mid-Cities Music
Teachers Assoc.).
*Practice time
It is important that students learn music and practice
at home. It is frustrating for teacher, student, and the other students
in the class, and it is a waste of your money. Please encourage your children to practice at home. This is especially important in a group setting. If one child
does not practice and the others have, then either that child will fall behind or the others will have to wait for that child
to catch up. A practice page will be sent home each week with their assignment. Please sign it and return it each week if your child completed the assignment. Your child will get stickers on the practice chart for completed practice. I will email the practice assignments for the week to anyone who has to miss a lesson.
If the student did not practice during the week,
please don’t skip the lesson however. This will just cause your child to
fall further behind.
*Supplies
Books
will be purchased prior to your first lesson, and the cost will be included in your first week's tuition. The students should bring their lesson and theory book each week, plus any additional sheet music they
have been given.
Students
must have a keyboard or piano to practice on at home.
*Group Dynamics
If
a student is consistently a disruption to the class and interferes with the other students’ learning, that student may
be asked to drop the class. Consistent lack of practice is also grounds for dismissal.
