So now Sen. Rick Santorum is using the word "hubris" to describe the Democrats' efforts to preserve the
parliamentary traditions of the Senate ("Frist Starts Countdown to Final Vote on Nominee," May 20). The definition of hubris is "overbearing pride or presumption; arrogance." So if anyone knows hubris,
Santorum does. His picture ought to be in the dictionary right next to the word.
Every reasonable person in America should be offended by his suggestion that the Senate Democrats can be
compared to Hitler, when in truth, the Republicans are moving this nation closer to fascism and oligarchy every day. It seems
to me that hypocrisy has become so ingrained in Republican rhetoric that they don't even recognize it as an un-Christian characteristic
anymore.

Oh lala
C PA JUSTE !
OK, at this point I simply can't stop laughing. You know the only way anyone's going to be able to
explain to Santorum why he's in the wrong is to say.. Uh, Mr. Senator, various and sundry nonsensical Hitler references
are OK if you're a Republican, but you gotta remember that right-wing rule number 4080 is
FRANCE = BAD!

Savage vs. Santorum
I met with Senator Santorum in his Washington, DC office last Tuesday, May 10th. I was one of a group
of about 15-20 union activists in town for the AFL-CIO Industrial Union Conference.
Hysterically, I was appointed/elected spokesperson for the group. I could do an entire diary about
Ricky-boy's arrogant and aggressive demeanor when challenged by me, but I simply don't have the time.
For the enjoyment of my fellow Kossacks, however, here was (IMHO) the money quote:
"Social Security is in crisis because we are not having enough babies"
This was met with chuckles of derision by the entire group -- to which Ricky responded:
"Laugh all you want -- it's the truth!"
Shortly after this exchange, the good Senator stormed out of the meeting and refused to meet with the UMWA
reps who had an appointment immediately following ours.
