I would like to thank the Sunday Patriot-News for helping me understand the meaning of irony. After finishing
the editorial regarding political junkets, I turned to the front section and learned that the president was planning numerous
"appearances" in our state.
The visits are to support our junior senator, who had just returned from a "joint fund-raiser and charity
golf tournament" in Las Vegas. Thanks again for the epiphany.
I can only hope that Karl Rove remembers to pack the calliope for the upcoming events. However, at $250
a head or $10,000 with picture, most Pennsylvanians won't get to meet with Mr. Bush or Sen. Rick Santorum. But then again,
denizens of the Keystone State rarely get to see their senator unless they are willing to drive to Virginia or catch him on
Fox News; although I have a friend who may have seen him in Vegas.
