Islamic Federation> Uniforms

• Navy uniforms are white; officers have black and gold trim, while the enlisted have green.
• Naval Infantry (Marines) fatigues are dark green.
• Guards army units on formal duties wear the white thaub robe and red-checked keffiyeh; officers wear black uniforms with green collars and trim. In the field, they wear camo approriate to the environment. The Guards badge is a black field bearing a green crescent over a horizontal saber.
• Fedayeen special forces wear a mottled pattern of light grey and sand. Body armor is often black. Fedayeen soldiers invariably wear the jambiya dagger. The badge is a green crescent on a red field.
• Regulars typically are issued with the "Leopard" pattern--khaki with black-rimmed tan spots. Clamshell torso armor is sometimes painted in a camouflage pattern, but is more often left in the natural honey color.
• Militia units of the richer amirates wear plain khaki uniforms; others merely wear their amirate colors on an armband or turban.

The Islamic Federation uses the same ranks for both army and navy. General officers wear a crescent, field grade a crown, and junior officers a bar; higher ranks in each category are denoted in the navy by one or more stars, in the army by crossed sabers. A naval aqid's shoulder boards, for example, would have a crown and two stars. Enlisted insiginia is worn on the sleeve, and ranges from the rais ruquba's star (or sabers), rocker, crescent and three inverted chevrons, down to the single inverted chevron of the jundi awwal--a jundi wears no rank insignia.
