s: Greek economy balloons due formation of EC and the first real stabilization of the Balkan region since the mid-1980s, thanks to the restored Romanov dynasty’s pressure on the various factions of Slavs to refrain from fighting. (s)
Destruction of the State of Israel by Islamic terrorist action. Beginning of the House of Saud's campaign to unify the Dar 'al-Islam. (c)
Concerned by the increasing threat to the various national cultures caused by the ‘Pan-Europeanization’ of the EC, several Greek businessmen secretly form a council dedicated ‘the preservation of the Hellenic culture and the Orthodox religion’. The Tsar of the Russias’ religious zeal is distrusted due to a history of Russian manipulation of their position as defender of Orthodoxy for political gain. This council is eventually known, with some irony, as the Magistranioi.
Beginning of the evacuation of Jordan, which is rapidly becoming un-inhabitable due to fallout from the Israeli devastation. The Jordanians become a refugee people, much like Palestinians of the 1960s and 1970s. Only due to the personal magnetism of the King do they maintain a cultural identity. (s)
The Kingdom of Jordan in Exile submits formally to the House of Saud, accepting the title of Emir of Jordan. (s)
The Gilderstein Foundation purchases an island off the Philippines and with technical/financial support from Japan embarks on its research program into FTL travel. (c)
Alarmed by increasing tendencies towards unity and outward-looking fanaticism among the Arabs, the Magistranioi begin to recruit paramilitaries to act against Islamic interests in the Eastern Mediterranean. They also begin recruiting Christians from IF territory with valuable skills or assets. Fearing increased persecution, a Christian exodus takes place from the Middle East. Many settle in Greece. Armenians migrate in large numbers to Armenia itself.
The House of Saud completes its suppression of its fellow Arab states and creates The Islamic Federation. The Islamic Federation mandates a series of ever-more oppressive laws restricting the rights of non-Muslims. (c)
Rioting in Antioch destroys several churches, burning the Patriarch alive when he tries to speak to a crowd. Elements of the Greek Armed Forces intervene and extract a large number of Christians. This operation is conducted without permission from the EC High Command. A number of senior officers are cashiered over that decision. Most form all-Greek mercenary units, collectively known as ‘The Boukellaroi’. Anatolia is finally purged of non-Turks, as a series of massacres and forced evacuations clean up the last of the Greeks, Kurds, and Armenians.
An Ecumenical Council sitting in Thessaloniki creates a “Patriarch of Antioch in Exile” who sits in Famagusta in Cyprus. Rioting on Cyprus lasts for six weeks, and ends with hundreds of casualties, both Greek and Turkish. Clashes between Turkish forces and Greek forces occur and are hushed up. EC deploys French Foreign Legion personnel to Cyprus. The same ecumenical council manages to reconcile Monophysitism with Orthodoxy, clarifying the terminology of previous councils to the satisfaction of all concerned.
Numerous Armenians, finding their homeland the front lines of the Russo-Chinese war, depart Armenia. Some settle in Greek territory, remembering the assistance rendered three years prior, when the Greek Air Force flew top cover over refugees fleeing Turkish genocide. Many are encouraged to settle in Cyprus, which sparks more rioting, not put down until French Foreign Legion personnel resort to machine-gunning crowds.
On the 100th anniversary of Yom Ha'atzmaut, a heavily armed community of Jewish radicals "retake Israel" by occupying the radioactive wastes in and between Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. They intend to keep the homeland occupied until the inevitable return from the "Second Exodus". The community survives under quiet sponsorship from other world governments, some of whom feel a debt of guilt, others a strategic opportunity. Some supply money, some arms and technology to combat the harsh conditions and rehabilitate ruins. Quiet, but significant words are spoken to the IF from several major powers discouraging harassment of the remaining Israelis. (s)
-2057 US Civil War encourages many Greek-Americans to return to Greece, where the economic climate is extremely favorable. (s)
The Philippines are conquered by Indonesia and assimilated into the new Indonesian Commonwealth: Japanese naval units act to protect the Gilderstein Foundation's installation from Indonesian aggression. (c)
The Gilderstein Foundation's L5 Lab disappears from orbit. (c)
The Magistranioi officially adopt that nomenclature and amend their goals. Their priorities are now “To preserve Orthodox culture, to defend the Orthodox faith, and to uphold Roman ideals.”
Copts displaced by the PAU/IF war over water in Northeast Africa are welcomed into the increasingly cosmopolitan Greece. As fissures in the structure of the EC begin to become apparent to insiders, the Magistranioi begin to consider the question of reasserting independence.
The Foundation reveals the true nature of the disappearance of the L5 Lab. The Islamic Federation and PAU clash in north-east Africa over water rights. The EC sponsor a peace initiative backed by a threat of force. (c)
The first trans-solar probe is launched to (and returns from) Barnard's Star. (c)
The Gilderstein Foundation sends the first manned FTL mission out of the Solar System (c)
With help from the EC, the Islamic Federation, the PAU and the Romanov Hegemony all launch FTL craft (c)
New Hellas and New Athens settled by Greek colonists. These colonies are initiated with heavy capital expenditure, with the intent of setting up a modern, largely automated, economy almost immediately.
Late 2070: Second Islamic Federation colony ship is launched, named "Hope of Jordan". Founds New Jordan. Over the next ten years, almost the entire Emirate of Jordan In Exile is relocated to New Jordan. Emir's title is altered by the Sultan to Emir of New Jordan. (s)
With the aid of the Greek government, the colony of Armeniakon is founding as a home for Armenian refugees.
 Colonization of New Ukraine.
Patriarch of Constantinople officially relocates to New Athens. His title is formally changed to “Patriarch of Constantinople and the Far Stars.” The Phanar is closed, and subsequently burned to the ground by Islamic rioters.
New Hellas and New Athens combine to found Pericles.
When Romania leaves the EC without any effective action, the Magistranioi consider this the signal to begin putting into place plans to secure Greek independence. Among these plans include incorporating elements of the Boukellaroi into the planetary police forces of New Hellas, New Athens, Pericles, and Armeniakon. Target date for independence is 2110.
Founding of "New Israel" on a garden world in the Epsilon Indi system (c)
New Ukraine become first extra-solar colony to declare independence, altering it's name to Free Ukraine. ESU makes only a token attempt to retake it.
Breakup of United Federal Europe. (c) As fighting begins between the Germans and French on Earth and among their colonies, the long-hidden plans of the Magistranioi must be changed to reflect the circumstances, but ultimately culminate in the internment of every non-Greek military unit on the four “Roman” worlds. Greek-crewed spacecraft desert in large numbers, securing the Roman colonies. Attempts to secure Greece itself are foiled by large-scale French occupation of Greece. A half-Armenian, half-Greek general by the name of Michael Pardos is raised on a hastily secured riot shield by two officers of the Boukellaroi, the Chief of the New Athens police, and the captain of a UFE Battlecruiser that had defected to the Greeks. He is then crowned Basil III, Emperor of the Romans, by the Patriarch of Constantinople and the Far Stars. His first action is to rename New Athens, making it Neo Constantinopolis. Pericles renames itself New Anatolia, signifying it’s intent to support the Roman Empire whole-heartedly. After two weeks of frantic discussion, Basil III submits the Articles of Reestablishment of the Empire of the Romans to the populace, which is approved by 90% of the colonial populations. Within 72 hours of the information reaching Earth, the Islamic Federation declares war. Actual military actions are mostly confined to piracy. The FSE dispatches a reconquest effort, which lands on New Constantinople and suffers 40% casualties in the following six weeks, followed by its surrender. The NSL opens diplomatic relations with the Romans. The NRE announces its neutrality in the NSL/FSE war, and announces that all military personnel of either side will be interned and their equipment confiscated. Internees will be returned at the conclusion of hostilities. The FSE responds with naval attacks on NRE territory, and the NRE resorts to a campaign of commerce raiding and strikes on FSE colonies throughout space. Boukellaroi units stand down and are reformed as the Scholae. New Constantinopolitan Gendarmes reform as Vigla.
AC and ESU both open diplomatic relations with NRE. NRE politely declines to become involved in this rivalry, preferring to engage in commerce with both sides impartially. In order to maintain neutrality, the trade agreements with the ESU and NAC are almost word-for-word copies of each other. Continued attacks by FSE are met with an invasion of the Italian colony of New Sicily, which is being used as a base for attacks on the Empire. A commando is inserted onto Earth that makes its way into Constantinople. In the middle of the night, they break into the Hagia Sophia, desanctify it formally, and proceed to blow the building into rubble. Simultaneously, the cornerstone is formally dedicated for the Hagia Sophia on New Constantinople, a perfect copy of the original. Jewish settlers colonize the harsh desert planet discovered in the CD-49=B013515 system and name it Midbar. Partition of Poland between RH and NSL.
Garibaldi, another Italian colony being used as a base for FSE fleet forces is attacked by Roman ground troops. Shortly after the initial phases of this invasion, the FSE, eager to terminate the fighting on peripheral fronts in order to concentrate on the NSL, finally offers the Romans an armistice that recognizes their independence in exchange for the Roman forswearing all claims to Greece. The Romans respond by declaring that as a nation formed primarily of Greeks, they naturally consider themselves the protector of the Greek nation, but have little or no interest in Greece itself. The compromise permits Greek emigration to any Roman colony without any barrier, but leaves the French with possession of the physical territory. Over the next 3-4 decades, a concerted policy of resettlement moves Italians, Spaniards, and French into Greece. In response, most Greeks flee to the stars.
2104: Treaty of Saarbrucken ends NSL/FSE war. NRE informs Islamic Federation negotiators that if a treaty is not signed forthwith, nuclear weapons secreted in the desert near Mecca would reduce that city to rubble. The precise wording was, “You people won’t need to use a compass to tell which way to pray because it’ll glow in the dark.” The bluff succeeds.
Treaty between Free Ukraine and Scandinavian Federation.
Habitable moons discovered in the CD-36=B013940 system by Jewish explorers. Orbiting the gas giant Goliath, the two colony worlds are named Metzada (Garden world) and Yaffo (an ocean world) respectively, Gehenem, an Io-like world in close orbit around Goliath, is rich in resources, but hazardous to exploit. (s)
New Thrace is established to make room for the refugees fleeing the FSE occupation of Greece.
New Roman Empire plants the colony of Cherson on the claimed but nearly uninhabited planet of Novy Sebastopol. After a handful of skirmishes, the NRE and the ESU reach an accommodation wherein the colony of Cherson serves as a conduit for the burgeoning trade between the ESU and NRE. A mix of predominantly orthodox Jewish communities band together to establish a colony on a temperate world in the CD-36=B015693 system they name Tzfat.
 Settlement of New Georgia.
New Sicily attacked by Islamic Federation at FSE instigation. A stalemate ensues, as both sides push fleets and divisions into the system. All off-planet settlements and installations are smashed within six months.
New Armenia is established by mass deportation of all Armenians remaining in Armenia. This development has no connection whatsoever to the discovery of significant oil fields there, which are then exploited cheaply by the ESU, which resettles Han Chinese peasants to learn to work the fields.
FSE fleet arrives in New Sicily, attacking both the weakened NRE and IF forces, and driving them out-system within a month. The NRE manages to evacuate most of their ground troops. IF forces refuse to either withdraw or surrender, and the FSE cannot spare the ground troops to dig them out. A state of siege ensues, further impacting the civilian population, which has dropped by 20% since the fighting began a year prior.
Islamic Federation and ESU forces clash on Earth as the ESU massacres many Muslims in an anti-Islamic pogrom in the Indian sub-continent. Diplomatic efforts result in an escalation to full scale war being averted. (c)
The FSE hires a division's worth of mercenaries and commits them to digging out the IF forces on New Sicily. Last organized resistance is destroyed six months later. Mercenaries are contracted to remain as long-term garrison, and a small system defense force is left behind as well.
 Thrakesion is established
The colony on Tzfat is overwhelmed and destroyed by IF forces. (s)
One hundred years after the effective destruction of Israel by Arab terrorist groups, the New Israel government pledges a never-ending war against the Islamic Federation. The "war" is largely the province of the New Israeli intelligence and special forces, but Rabbi Avraham Yoffe's public statement that the Jewish state would take each and every opportunity to avenge the destruction of their original homeland (and the colony of Tzfat) actually marked the start of Operation Yericho, during which New Israeli Interface and Airborne units assaulted and destroyed several Islamic bases on the Inner Colonies. (c) New Roman Empire increases contacts both at an official level and an unofficial one, sharing intelligence and coordinating plans against the Islamic Federation.
The Islamic Federation and PAU clash over spheres of influence in space. The FSE enforces a peaceful solution.(c) Garrison of New Sicily revolts and declares independence.
Shi'ite fundamentalists declare independence from the Islamic Federation on their Outworld settlements of Abu Haman and Sad Al Bari. Saudi attempts to regain control of these colonies fail as troops of the 2nd Islamic Legion sent to suppress the rebellion switch sides after landfall and join the fundamentalists under the banner of Mullah Saeed ibn Aamir. The two colonies declare the formation of the Saeed Khalifate, and in efforts to raise much needed hard currency soon begin to utilize their armed forces as mercenary units for hire.(c) New Roman Empire is initially cautious, but the Saeed make it clear their enemy is the heretics of the Islamic Federation, and the NRE begins assisting them against the Islamic Federation.
NI mercenaries clash with Islamic Federation mercenary units on the Coreworld of Easter, despite both having been hired by the LLAR. Both parties' contracts are revoked. NI provides troops and naval units to aid the LLAR against the Indonesian Commonwealth in the "Mercenary War". (c)
Basil III dies unexpectedly. After a short power struggle, his youngest son, Leo VI takes power. Leo VI is well known for his intellectual abilities, but the military is wary of ability as a commander.
Attempted revolt by the exarch of Armeniakon. Put down by a deployment of naval forces and a show of force by the loyal Tagmatic forces.
-2142 First Solar War - NI stays out, IF and NI forces skirmish along trade routes that skirt war zones. (c/s)
Punitive raid on Free Ukraine convinced the Free Ukrainians that perhaps commerce is preferable to piracy, at least in the context of the New Roman Empire. Start of First Solar War between NAC and ESU. Romans stand on their neutrality and sell strategic materials and resources to both sides. Sales are carefully watched to ensure that neither side is able to purchase more than the other. Careful observation of this principle and heavy escorts provided to Roman merchants allow the Romans to escape serious losses in the First Solar War.
Realizing that New Armenia was untenable as the situation then existed, the ESU transfers it to the Islamic Federation in exchange for a loan of a number of warships and ground mercenary units.
Rumors surface regarding a New Israeli supership under construction in a secret location. Its purpose is unknown, though sometimes it is associated with the name "Retribution." Sources differ - some deny its existence, some swear they have seen the construction facility, others believe it is a false lead away from other secret projects, and still others believe it is a disinformation campaign designed by enemies of the state to stir up distrust of NI. (s)
End of First Solar War. (c)
ESU attacks Romanov Hegemony, initiating Second Solar War. (c) After early mercenary engagements for underdog powers with mixed results , NI stays out. (s) NRE plays a waiting game.
Empire seizes New Armenia, with the aid of various local officials and military officers. As a result, the Islamic Federation attacks, beginning a vicious general war between the two powers. The Empire takes heavy losses in the initial phases of the space war, but soon learns to adapt to the IF's unorthodox designs and tactics.
Islamic Federation launches a raid on New Constantinople with mixed results. Several orbital factory-habitats are destroyed, but the system defense forces inflict catastrophic losses.
After 2 years of inconclusive spatial warfare, Imperial forces land on New Levant. Imperial forces are outnumbered, but superior technology and a far superior doctrine results in Islamic Federation troops being outclassed badly.
New Levant finally falls to Imperial forces, Islamic Federation sues for peace. Islamic Federation begins a complete revision of it's military forces and doctrine, moving the emphasis from ill-armed militia units inspired by Islamic fervor to professional mechanized forces built around the highest-tech equipment available. The Revolutionary Guards receive most of the benefit, but the quality of the IFLF also upgrades somewhat.
End of Second Solar War. (c)
After over 30 years of antagonism and countless 'incidents,' none of which come close to destroying the IF or its power, and few of which make New Israel any more secure, New Israel's so-called 'Vengeance Government' is thrown out by a series of no-confidence votes and landslide elections which bring to power the new 'Security Government' that is still in place at present. Operation Yericho is closed. New policy promotes, among other things, keeping NI and IF far from each other, and fighting mainly in defense. Some of Yoffe's followers, including a few elements of the military and intelligence communities, disappear soon after, taking with them sensitive information and several ships and interface craft. As a group, the 'Yoffim' are tried in absentia as traitors to the state and named interstellar outlaws. (s)
-2163 Pirate Yoffim harass IF shipping and colonies, working to destabilize IF economies and politics. Unconfirmed rumors within NI hint that the outlaws receive secret funds and materiel through Israeli intelligence. (s)
The New Roman Empire, fed up with the vicious Serbo-Croatian intercine warfare and the threat it poses to commerce, moves into the New Serbia system in force. All Serbian and Croatian spacecraft are blown out of space or captured, and the spaceports taken. Guerilla and conventional resistance peters off after a year, when it is realized that no Serbo-Croatian force could dislodge the Imperials, but that the NRE had no interest in the rest of the planet. Most attacks are defeated due to internal bickering among various local petty nobles, fueled by selective Imperial subsidies.
Islamic fundamentalists seize power in New Riyadh, murdering the remaining members of the Saudi royal family. Loyalist elements attempt to regain power in a civil war lasting two years, but fail. (s) Imperial forces take parts of Mesopotamia, grabbing a chance handed them by the Islamic Federation civil war. Islamic Federation troops fight with vigor, and more skill than shown 9 years prior, but distrust and divided loyalties spell disaster. Simultaneous coups are attempted in each Emirate. The New Jordanian coup manages to seize the major population center, New Amman, and splits the New Jordanian Army. The Emir is killed during the fighting, his body later being found with the bodies of four of his murderers around him. His son takes to the bush with the loyal elements of the NJA. Other members of the family are either co-opted by the coup or shot. New Israeli Mossad and New Roman Intelligence take an active interest in the fighting, as the young Emir was educated in the NAC and is reputed to be pro-Western. The Islamic Federation becomes increasingly hostile towards both the NAC and the ESU.
Third Solar War begins. (c) In New Jordan, In September, The legitimate Emir, Suleiman Ibn Amr Al Hashemi, and his loyal troops launch an attack from the bush, with Roman and Israeli advisors and weapons. He manages to break the power of the fundamentalists, regaining control of New Amman and capturing the starport. He proclaims the Hashemite Kingdom of New Jordan, with himself as King Suleiman. He immediately signs a Treaty of Peace with New Israel and another with the New Roman Empire. New Israeli warships are moved into the system to prevent an Islamic Federation response. King Suleiman throws himself into the task of reforming the government of New Jordan, scheduling parliamentary elections for 2167, appointing a Prime Minister Pro Temp, and forming a Constitutional Committee to begin writing a formal Constitution. Most fundamentalists, who supported the coup, are arrested and either shot or deported. (s)
October 2165: The Islamic Federation attempts a counter-attack against New Jordan which is smashed by Israeli ships, although not without loss. (s)
The Third Solar War escalates further as the NSL attacks the bordering FSE frontier. Mercenary forces from New Israel are hired by the NAC and NSL. (c)
Parliamentary elections in New Jordan seat a moderate coalition government, which ratifies the Peace Agreements with Israel and the Romans, as well as accepting an offer of alliance with both those nations.
Disputes with the Romanov Hegemony over the New Sofia system reach crisis point and war is declared. The NRE's first major offensive is destroyed completely by a Hegemony ambush awaiting the NRE fleet as it left jump-space. The Emperor's personal Super Dreadnought is amongst the ships destroyed. It is believed that the Emperor's remains are recovered by the Romanov Hegemony and desecrated. Leo's son Basil IV takes the throne--in a literal sense, personally shooting Bardas Skleros, an admiral who survived New Sofia and reached Constantinople with both the news of the defeat and the claim of his own right to the throne. ESU Naval forces enter Terelis system and attempt to take Romanov-held settlement of Tsitsihar; the Eurasian fleet under Admiral Jia Dehuai manages to defeat the system defense forces, but at high cost, leaving the Eurasian assault forces too weak to create a beachhead in the face of fierce resistance from the Planetary defenses. (second half is canonical)
Taking advantage of the war between the Hegemony and the NRE, the Islamic Federation attacks the NRE. Minor gains on New Armenia.
First stealth hull constructed at Midbar 'skunk works'.
The NRE defeats the IF in several major spatial engagements and the IF sues for peace; the Empire prepares a counterstroke to knock the Hegemony out of the war.
Not realizing that their spy network had been compromised the Hegemony Navy attempts to spring the same trap on the NRE Fleet as they did in First Battle of New Sofia. Unfortunately, they are caught re-supplying and the Hegemony Fleet is virtually destroyed. Simultaneous deep penetration strikes by the NRE prevent reinforcements arriving. An expeditionary force consisting of the Tagmatic Corps and 4 Thematic Corps are landed on New Sofia. The survivors of the assault fight a guerrilla war for over a year.
The Sumani IV incident. ESU and NAC peace negotiators are assassinated by an Islamic Federation terrorist attack. Years of distrust between the two powers lead to them blaming each other and a failure to identify the real culprit. The Third Solar War intensifies. (c)
A final desperate assault by the resistance on New Sofia uses weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear and chemical strikes, on Black Monday (as the NRE dubs the day of the NBC strikes). NRE casualties total 103,544 men, plus an unknown number of civilians. The kid gloves come off on New Sofia. The civil populace is herded into detention camps, and concentrations of resistance fighters are hammered with orbital bombardments. Colonel-General Vitaly Iosifovich Grinevitskii, the officer who ordered the "Black Monday" strikes, is captured alive, impaled, packed in alcohol, shipped to New Constantinople, and his head is displayed on the Milestone for about the next 5 years before being returned to the Hegemony in a small box.
Only a few border skirmishes occur this year. With its objective reached the NRE seems willing to let the war peter out, and the Hegemony is in no position to counter-assault New Sofia. At the very end of the year a cease-fire (under UNSC supervision) between the Hegemony and the NRE is declared.
The surviving soldiers of the New Sofia garrison are returned to the Romanov Hegemony. They are divided into two groups. Most of them have been treated with every customary courtesy. However, those involved in the planning or execution of the Black Monday strikes have been treated as common criminals, and 99 out of every 100 have been blinded, and the 100th has had one eye burned out. Basil IV declares this to be the penalty for any force that uses "barbaric weapons of mass destruction" against Imperial forces. Strategos Georgios Constantinos Kekaumenos, the Roman commander on New Sofia retires to a monastery.
The 1st of January is the official end of the war with the Romanov Hegemony. The peace settlement cedes the New Sofia system to the NRE. Tsar Michael II abdicates in favor of his son, Joseph, citing his failure to prosecute the war with the NRE as a failure to do his duty to the Hegemony. The Empire quietly points out that his incapacity dates to the arrival of the survivors of the New Sofia forces at his court, and speculation that he suffered a stroke of some kind runs rampant. Michael II's death is announced shortly after his abdication.
With major allies distracted by the escalating Third Solar War, the fundamentalist controlled and unified IF launches an assault against New Israel with the sole goal of rendering the planet uninhabitable. The IF force is turned back at the cost of 2/3 of the NI fleet. Not a single ortillery shell or enemy landing craft makes planetfall on New Israel. The tide of the battle is ultimately turned when the Yoffim, not seen for over a decade, jump in and open a new battle line to the flank and rear of the attackers. The hulking Retribution makes its first and only appearance in combat, being destroyed in the final melee. New Roman squadrons arrive too late to contribute to the battle, but Basil IV offers to keep the forces on station defending New Israel until the Israelis can scrape together enough ships to provide for their own security. A series of unclaimed assassinations of IF leaders associated with the attack follow over the next year. NI recalls most mercenary units, and calls in political and military 'favors' in an effort to rebuild its defenses quickly. The Empire begins transferring major military hardware in on a Lend-Lease basis. NI policy towards IF focuses on denying the IF the ability to make war on NI, classifying most IF FTL capable tugs and all FTL military ships of Destroyer class and higher as imminent security threats.
In a public tribunal, the surviving Yoffim, are convicted of various crimes short of treason and then pardoned. They are accepted back into NI society as heroes of the Homeland War.
The head of Colonel-General Vitaly Iosifovich Grinevitskii is ceremoniously presented to the King of all the Russians. The Romanov Hegemony severs diplomatic relations. The ambassador from the Royal Dutch Commonwealth becomes physically ill and makes some intemperate remarks, leading to a cooling of relations between the two powers.
The two largest IF space construction facilities are destroyed by fast-striking New Israeli raiders.
ESU lands Kaliphate mercenaries on Tsitsihar to reinforce their offensive against Romanov units in the colony. (c)
With the aid of Kaliphate troops the ESU finally takes Tsitsihar from the Romanovs. (c)
Imperial First Contact with Kra'Vak. First stealth system fitted onto an NI-purchased NSL BC
Third Solar War Sputters into the First InterSentinent War. (c)
A skirmish between a small NI and IF group is interrupted by the Kra'Vak. Israeli and Islamic ships fight side by side for the first time, but are defeated. (s)
Imperial representatives meet with Romanov Hegemony diplomats and hammer out a permanent peace treaty. Diplomatic relations are restored, “in view of the present state of emergency” but remain coldly formal on both sides. Empire begins transferring fleet elements from the 3 Sector Fleet facing the Romanovs and begins forming an Imperial Expeditionary Force, with the intent of using such a force to reinforce Human nations under more direct attack.
Hellas Incident: A Kra'Vak Patrol Cruiser probing the Hellas system is ambushed by system defense ships equipped with EMP Heavy Missiles. The ship is captured essentially intact. Operation Divine Wrath captures a Kra'Vak refueling station, but costs the entire 4th Battle Squadron covering the withdrawal. An unexpected FSE offer of a mutual non-aggression pact for the duration of the emergency is rightly seen as motivated by a desire to commit fleet units to fighting the Kra’Vak rather than watching the FSE/NRE frontier and is accepted. A similar proposal from the IF is sent to a Senate committee where it gathers dust.
The 4th Battle Squadron "Hammer of the Kra'Vak" is officially re-activated, with all-new ship designs optimized for anti-Kra'Vak combat. Forms the heaviest element of the battleline of the new 5th Expeditionary Fleet.
