EMBARRAS AND WABASH
RIVER FLOOD
<<
INFORMATION >>
JUNE
19, 2008
As the flood waters recede,
the Road Commissioners are inspecting the roadways for safety.
Please call the Sheriff's Department for information on
safe road access. Home owners are advised to follow safety
precautions first when returning to their homes.
Before starting the cleanup
process, document with pictures the condition of the home.
This documentation is important and will be used by the
FEMA damage assessment teams. We are working through the
local EPA to have dumpsters and guidelines placed in the
affected areas.
Flood clean up kits and disaster
information are available at the Lawrence County Health
Department Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The
free cleanup kits are filled with a variety of cleaning
supplies and personal protection equipment.
American Red Cross Vincennes
Chapter has established information phone lines for disaster
victims to call with questions and to get clean up information.
The phone number is
1-866-GET-INFO (1-866-438-4636).
The No Burn Order has been
lifted on Lawrence County except for Lawrence-Allison Fire
Protection District from CR 1400E to the Wabash River and
CR 1600N to the Fire District Southern border in the flood
affected areas. This order will be in effect until further
notice.
Potable water is available
at local retail locations. Dispensing has ceased at all
water distributing sites.
