Back in the days of hot rods and hula hoops, Rex's Drive-In was a popular local gathering spot featuring car hops, state-of-the-art curb service, indoor dining, carry outs and pizza. In 1973, remodeling to change with the times, the drive-in was eliminated, the restaurant enlarged and converted to a full service establishment and the name changed to Rex's Cork and Fork.  The busy lounge featured local entertainment.  Who would ever think! Organ and Banjo! It was a combination that worked for 12 years.  During our time together we produced 2 recordings. Charlie Prazak played a Bacon and Day 4 String Banjo and Guitar, and Les used the Lowrey Symphonic Holiday (Model TGS1).  On February 19, 1980, a fire destroyed the restaurant, the Lowrey Symphonic Holiday was lost.

Life after the fire the floor plan was revised with more room for the lounge. We returned, Les with the New Lowrey Coronation, and in 1982 the New Lowrey MX1, and we stayed till June 1985. The picture below was taken in 1983 for the restaurant's brochure and advertisement for tourism for the city of Saint Charles.
